Arlington is for walkers-driving/owning a car is too stressful

It is just too stressful. This is not the place to be with a vehicle. From the police giving you tickets, to angry people posting stuff on the internet, to the traffic, Va vehicle registrations stress. I'm either getting rid of my car of I'm moving! Which do you think?

Angry people on the internet make having a car very difficult.

I live too close to Columbia Pike not on it. Too bad you can't afford a car but someday you might be promoted to night manager at the 7-11. Til then, get a life.

Your Frustration is understandable. Owning and operating a motor vehicle is a huge commitment. If you are not in need of a motor vehicle and are okay getting around where you need to be on foot, bike, uber, bus etc. than do what you need to do. I don't have a problem with Arlington becoming more "bike friendly" but I do have a problem with certain elements trying to turn Arlington into some cyclist's wet dream where cyclists can ride their bikes on the streets without abandon and totally disregard all traffic laws. Bycycles should be rode on the sidewalks, the street is for cars. Short of being Eddie Mercx or Lance Armstrong, most cyclists lack the stamina, skill and common sense to ride their bikes safely and be able to keep up with general traffic.

Cyclists are actually expected to be on the road, not the sidewalk. Granted they are still accountable to the rules of the road, but many vehicles don't follow those rules either. Ideal would be more separated protected bike lanes, but the idiots in power instead want to blow money on widening roads to create more traffic.

This-And this is why the anti-public transit, anti-cyclist, anti-walker idiots must go

Or maybe some people make the choice to ride a bike everywhere because they aren't fat nasty slops with a gross beer belly.

It's illegal to ride on the sidewalk and cyclists have every right to be on the road. If you want a better solution fight for more protected bike lanes.

I'm surprised at the ignorance here.. "cyclists never follow the rules and don't own the damn road?" lmfao..

Cyclists ride on the road as they should. They actually own the damn road just as much as you do. Unless we're talking about some children in the neighborhood, or someone riding slow or without helmet, trust me, you don't want us riding the sidewalks- it's more dangerous for everyone.

Exactly, cyclists have every right to be on the road. In parts of DC cyclists are even required to be on the road and not the sidewalks. And from what I have seen it's pretty much drivers who never follow the rules.

Well, with amazon coming we are getting more bike and pedestrian improvements. Go move to dinosaurville Nick along with your overcompensationmobile SUV. It's more up your alley.

It is pretty much always drivers who never follow the rules. They will literally hang out in a crosswalk blocking it, even when they are just going to get stuck at the next light. Arlington drivers are idiots and I wish they would just leave and move to the exurbs and then we can just ban cars.
