A Harpers Ferry, W. Va., man was charged Sept. 29 in connection with a strong-arm robbery that occurred at the Tri-State Exxon on Jefferson Pike in April.
Dale E. Mainhart, 29 was charged with robbery, while Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office investigators were still seeking his accomplice, whom they believed to be 21-year-old Joseph S. Hall, also from Harpers Ferry.
Hall, wanted for robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery, was apprehended Oct. 2 during a traffic stop in Tennessee, according to Kraig Troxell, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office released surveillance video from the gas station following the robbery.
In the video, posted above, a 39-year-old Washington, D.C., woman is walking to her car when a vehicle approaches. A passenger grabs the victim’s purse and knocks her to the ground; police say she was knocked unconscious. The incident occurred about 1 a.m.
“We received a tip from someone in the community about the possible whereabouts of the vehicle [after they saw the video],” Troxell said.
Mainhart is currently held at the Eastern Regional Jail in Martinsburg, W. Va.
