On Thursday, September 15, 2011, the Loudoun County Health Department will provide free Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) vaccine at Dulles Town Center on a walk in basis from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Children are routinely vaccinated for these illnesses, but older children, adolescents, and adults need periodic boosters to stay protected from these diseases. As a result, the number of pertussis (whooping cough) cases has begun to increase, which can be deadly if passed to an infant. Tdap vaccines provide that protection.
The focus of this free vaccination clinic is to best protect those who care for infants, such as adult family members, child care workers and health care workers. While all adults would benefit from a routine Tdap booster, those who have insurance that fully covers vaccinations are encouraged to visit their private medical provider.
The free walk-in clinic will take place on the second floor of Dulles Town Center, near the Nordstrom entrance. Dulles Town Center is located at 21100 Dulles Town Circle, Dulles, VA 20166-2400. Only the Tdap vaccine will be provided at this clinic.
