Rattlesnake found in Round Hill!!!

Snake rattles Round Hill

Chris Pearson, of Round Hill, found this rattlesnake July 28, but he wasn’t the first to spot it; he credits the family cat with warning everyone. Found under the front steps of his home, the rattlesnake is the first Pearson has seen in about 15 years. He also said he has several friends in the area who have been finding rattlesnakes.

It's a Timber Rattlesnake... nice one, too. Very common West of Round Hill as you move up into the Western hills. Va. Dept. of Natural Resources have a well documented snake den for these guys near Mt. Weather and monitor/take counts every year. Don't mess with Timber Rattler's and they won't bother you!

I hear there have been other sightings too, don't they live in the higher elevations?
