Boy Hit, Dies Crossing Farmwell Road

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of an 8-year-old boy who was hit while crossing Farmwell Road last night.
According to the sheriff's office, the boy, Beshoy B. E. Shokr, and his 29-year-old mother, Eman S. Thabet, were crossing Farmwell Road at the Ashburn Village Boulevard intersection around 9:15 p.m. when they were hit by a vehicle. The 2004 Toyota Camry was traveling westbound on Farmwell Road.
Shokr was taken to Inova Loudoun Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Thabet was flown by helicopter to the trauma center at Inova Fairfax Hospital. Her status is not known at this time.
The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene was has been cooperating with the investigation. Neither alcohol nor speed is believed to be a factor and no charges have been filed. Witnesses on the scene told investigators that the driver had a green light to proceed across the intersection.
The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Crash Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the incident.
