Investigation Continues Into Missing Ashburn Mom; No New Leads
http://www.leesburg2day.com/news/article_c836656e-7cd8-11e0-98c5-001cc4c03286.html

Today marks the 22nd birthday of Bethany Anne Decker, the pregnant Ashburn woman who has been missing since late January, and there is little to report in the investigation into her disappearance, and the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office continues to search for clues that might investigators to her.

"There is still no indication of foul play, but there also has been no activity on her bank accounts, e-mail, and she has not been attending her classes at George Mason," sheriff's office spokesperson Kraig Troxell said yesterday.

Decker was last seen the evening of Jan. 29 at her apartment on Orchard Grass Terrace in Ashburn by Ronald Roldan, who has been cooperating with the investigation. Roldan was believed to have been staying at the apartment, which only bore Decker's name on the lease.

The married mother of one was reported missing by her grandparents Feb. 19 when they came to her apartment after weeks of no contact to find her car there, but Decker was no where to be found. Decker was four months pregnant when she disappeared and would be approximately eight months pregnant now. This is her second child with husband Emile Decker, a private with the Army National Guard who returned to service in Afghanistan Feb. 2 after a brief R&R. The couple's elder child, 17-month-old Kai, is staying with Bethany Decker's mother Kimberly Nelson in Fredericksburg while his mother is in school full time.

Decker is a full-time student at George Mason University, where she is a senior majoring in global and economic change.

While there is no indication where she might be, authorities also have been able to confirm that Decker did not leave the country.

Decker is white, about 4'11" tall, around 130 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

After working for weeks with the Army, the sheriff's office was able to bring Decker home to Loudoun. He has been cooperating fully with the investigation.

Investigators have conducted dozens of interviews, according to the sheriff's office, including with Decker's family and friends. Troxell said at this point the sheriff's office cannot identify anyone as a missing person. Decker's case is still being ruled a missing person's case, as investigators have uncovered no evidence that indicates foul play in her disappearance.

In addition to interviews, investigators have done several searches of the area near the Deckers' apartment in Ashburn, including by helicopter. The searches have been part of the ongoing investigation and no additional information or specific tips have spurred any of the searches.

Search warrants have been obtained for cell phones and computers in the home and a forensic examination of these items is being conducted. There has been no activity on her phone, e-mail or bank accounts, but the sheriff's office confirmed someone claiming to be Bethany Decker is believed to have been using her Facebook page after she was reported missing and after a prolonged period of inactivity.

Decker's vehicle that was in her apartment building parking lot also has been secured along with her apartment was also searched. Forensic tests are being conducted on items found in those locations.

Anyone who has any information about Decker, her whereabouts or the case is asked to contact Inv. Mack Halley at 703-777-0475. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous may call Loudoun County Crime Solvers at 703-777-1919.

Still Missing: Bethany Anne Decker
The Loudoun Sheriff’s Office released a photograph of Bethany Anne Decker, shown when she was approximately 27-weeks pregnant with her first child. She is believed now to be approximately seven months pregnant.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office today released a new photo of Decker while carrying her first child in her third trimester (as she might look now) as well as a picture of a tattoo she has just above her left ankle.

Investigators continue to conduct interviews of Decker’s friends and co-workers. The agency continues to seek information from anyone who knew Decker or who has information about people with whom she had a relationship, to come forward.

Facts about the case:

Did anyone else see all the deputies searching the wooded areas around her apartment complex last year ? They all parked at the Home Depot on Shellhorn road, looked like a raid on HD. Sad story, I live not far from her and its scary to think that people can just dissapear.

Boyfriend of missing pregnant woman breaks silence
Tuesday - 4/24/2012, 12:58pm ET
http://www.wtop.com/159/2839343/Boyfriend-of-missing-pregnant-woman-breaks-silence
ASHBURN, Va. - The last person to see Bethany Ann Decker, before she disappeared in Jan. 2011 while five months pregnant, believes she is alive and will return home safely.

Ronald Roldan's attorney, Andi Geloo, tells WTOP, "my client remains hopeful and prays daily that Bethany will come home."

Loudoun County Sheriff's investigators have said Roldan was living with Decker, despite her being married to Emile Decker, who was serving in Afghanistan. Emile Decker has since returned to the U.S.

Bethany Decker had described Roldan's demeanor to family and friends as "controlling and abusive" according to investigators in court documents.

Investigators searched Roldan's mother's home, with a search warrant, soon after her disappearance.

"My client has met with them, and has been cooperative," Geloo says.

Sources in the sheriff's office said Roldan eventually ceased answering questions.

WTOP reported earlier Decker, whose due date was in Aug. 2011, met Roldan at Carrabba's Italian Grill in Centreville, while she worked there.

According to investigators, it's unclear who fathered Decker's child.

"The Decker family is thankful that Mr. Roldan is hopeful and full of prayer, " says family spokesman Peter Byrnes.

"We're holding out hope she's fine, and somewhere else, and wanting to be alone," Byrnes said.

Byrnes and investigators have said there's no indication of foul play, activity on her bank accounts, cellphones or email.

"The family is of the opinion she's still out there," Byrnes says. "We just want to know she's okay."

Byrnes acknowledges, "It's frustrating to not have an ending to the story."

"The family stands by Mr. Decker," says Byrnes. "He's trying to get on with things - this is a monumentally frustrating and upsetting situation."

Last week, Loudoun Sheriff Michael Chapman declined to characterize whether Emile Decker or Ronald Roldan were cooperating or targets of the investigation, saying the case remains active.

"My client has a lot of confidence in the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office," Geloo says. "He has complete confidence they're working hard on the case."

Byrnes says Roldan has never reached out to the Decker family, and that few if any family members had ever met him. Investigators say Roldan saw Decker after she last saw her husband, who was returning to Afghanistan after military leave.

"What happened in their last meeting, we don't know," Byrnes says.

"It's odd that someone falls off the face of the earth," Byrnes says. "We're just kind of watching and waiting and hoping."

Can some one just say it out loud. She went on vacation with her husband. Came back and the last person to see her alive was her controlling boyfriend, who has stopped answering investigators questions. Her purse, ID, keys were all found inside of her apartment. Do you really need to watch too many episodes of the First 48 to crack this one open ? The BF did it, the Sheriff's office knows it and thats why they searched the woods all around her apartmet. He killd her in the apartment, because he was angry about her being on vacation with the husband. The question is, how did he get her out of her place ? And who was posting on her FB page pretending to be her ? Its a lock the BF did it, and its only a matter of time before Sheriff's deputeys will find her and trace it back to the BF. See, watching the First 48 helped me crack this thing wide open.

No, she will return home safely sometime soon! Ronald is hopeful!

This case should be wrapped up by now. Shame it's taking so long.
