It concerns me that there are no specific guidelines for teachers who are teaching the same subject.  In my son’s case, his Chemistry teacher is in her first year at Freedom.  Shouldn’t a new teacher have department guidelines to follow?  Shouldn't all students taking the same class be graded in a similar manner? Is it fair that one teacher uses a point system, while another uses percentages?  What if one teacher grades homework for accuracy, while  another just checks to see if the students did the homework assignment?  Or, how about a teacher that counts assessments as 50% of the student’s grade, while another assigns projects instead of tests? Don’t you believe that all students at Freedom should have the same opportunity to earn a grade that is determined in a similar manner, regardless of the teacher?

If you think you can take this thread down, I will protest in front of your house until I get arrested. That will draw national attention to the atrocity of your proposed action.

I'd Like to see any one of you try to be a teacher for a day. Seriously. My mom has worked for the county since I was in 7th grade she is teaching at freedom now and taught at two other high schools before. I love how first and for most you go after the teachers. They not only teacher you kids but then have to put up with their attitude and lets face teenagers and semi wealthy teenagers at that have horrible attitudes when it suits them. Then there are the parents oh you lovely lovely people... NOT all you do is blame teachers even when more then one teacher is saying the same thing about your child's behavior attitude or effort in school no your little johnny is an angel HAHAHAHA you are blind. Then theirs the lack of support from the admin half the time oh and of course lets not forget the pressure from the government to do better and get good marks on their little tests.

So Seriously folk if you really want something done you as the parent need to get up off your butts and maybe do a bit of parenting or getting involved with your kids lives besides caving in to their every demand. Go to a PTA meeting go to a school board meeting and start a petition. Fat chance something will happen though after all where would the money come from to monitor just how teachers are teaching you would have to create a new job which would mean a salary or increase someone's salary and expand on their job. I bet your thinking that's not a big deal well once again you are showing your lack of support we had budgets almost every year teachers pensions are being affected so lovely idea to get them on one system would be easier yes and a bit like communism but we simply do not have the money unless you would like for taxes to go up.

As far as the leadership I would not know I know there have been some teacher admin issues but nothing big.

Oh and as far as the private school you child is now more likely to do things you do not know about simply because they may have wealthy friends whose parents let them do anything or they know how to manipulate you very very well/

You also left out that the Loudoun County school system has a program to reintergate gang members into the school population. Not the teacher's fault, but a stupid, stupid idea, especially after this led to violence in the classroom. I pulled my kids out of public schools and immediately put them into private school, where they are now on honor roll. Thanks to my prompt action, my kids can now look to going to a good college. Kudos to your mom for putting up with everything, but lets face it...The public school system is in serious, serious need of repair.

Its really not the teachers fault for the piss poor leadership at Freedom. In fact, i would most certainly put the blame upon Mrs. Forester (principal). She has a severe lack of ability when it comes to any sort of situation out of the norm. She is not able to suitably look after the young adults attending the school and help them feel safe. She lets sex offenders and lets criminal adults attend the school, even when they, lets say, rob three fellow students at knife point on school grounds.

Freedom is a joke....a horrible experience for my Freshman....cannot wait to move to Champe- nothing can be worse than Forester and her staff.

Check out the SAT scores:
Stone Bridge - 1655
Loudoun Valley- 1624
Briar Woods - 1611
Dominion-1608
Loudoun County - 1594
Heritage - 1581
Broad Run - 1573
Potomac Falls - 1571
Freedom - 1567
Park View - 1427

Falling every year. The sports program is worse. The Athletic Director is a putz-a paycheck collector at best. Check out his athletics website-it is ridiculous. Barely does anything. Perhaps he should spend some time taking some computer classes. Compared to Briar Woods (which opened after Freedom) its embarrassing. The top athletes don't even participate in Freedom sports because of the crazy requirements but hey that's okay...as long as he has enough bodies to fill the roster- he is fine with it. The whole atmosphere at the school is negative. Attendance at sporting events is negligible. The Freshman spend every other day at the middle school because the school is over-crowded. Freedom is a commuter campus for the Freshman. Nothing like another year of middle school! Most of the teachers do the bare minimum....no wonder the SATs are the second lowest in the county.

Can we assume your mother doesn't teach advanced writing courses?

Freedom isn't one of the most academically gifted or rigorous schools, but there are a few good teachers that genuinely care. The opportunity for taking higher level courses is also available. And as for SAT scores, that is solely an individual effort. The school has little to no effect on that. So don't blame Freedom for people's own apathy. I'm not saying Freedom is the best school, but it's pretty darn rich and resourceful compared to other schools. So everybody put on your big girl panties and stop whinin' like a bunch of sissies.

your shat about the schools is just like ours in FFX. And amongst US public school systems, THIS is as good as it gets?

Teach your children well...you know the song.
