Buyer Beware

Avoid a "good deal" on any of the many services Richard Sean Ryals claims he and his "merry men" can perform! Nothing is free and especially if you are dealing with this thief!!!! Beware..once Ryals receives numerous complaints against one of his many companies.. he opens up a new one under a different name. Help take Ryals off the streets of N.Va. Call Det. Judy Duff with DPOR 571-291-1595 and file a complaint. Make sure you do follow up calls! Call your County representative and ask her/him to contact DPOR and insist DPOR take care of all the complaints they have received on Richard Sean Ryals. WE must hold DPOR accountable for allowing this man to continue to make a living by taking advantage of hard working, honest people in N.Va.


Avoid this company

Richard Sean Ryals is a total con artist and a fraud. He currently represents himself as an owner of “Custom Creation Landscapes”, he is also known as owner of "Arbor Creations Cutting Edge" and "Cutting Edge Landscaping", all based in Manassas but under different addresses. We hired him to cut down and remove two trees in our front yard. He insisted on down payment “to put us on schedule for next Monday”. Six weeks later he finally came, cut one tree trunk right in a middle so that the tree top fell, knocked down another tree and a mailbox and partially blocked the street traffic. Sean, of course, promised to clean up and compensate for the damages but he never showed up.

Sean Ryals is not a professional, he is a liar, he’ll take your money and never show up for work. A negative five star rating is what he deserves.

I was forced by this site to select a rating but I must say, Sean deserves NO stars! He took our money and we lived with a hole in the back yard most of the spring and summer. Don't be fooled by Sean. He is a fraud.
We are very thankful for the kind rep at the stone yard who referred us to a real stone artisan who finished the project and renewed our faith in reputable, qualified, and talented expert contractors.

What can be done to stop Sean??? I certainly don't have the answer.



Stay away from this company

I too wish I had found these reviews before we hired this guy. We have been trying to get a landscaping job done since July. Our story is no different than anyone else's here. Promisesno showif they do show, its poor work and nothing gets done. What a total scam artist. He needs to be in jail! How does this kind of t hing happen in this day and age. There has to be something we can do. For anyone out there that comes across this guy, kick him off your property immediately! Do not hire him for anything!

I wish I had done a google search of this guy before signing on with his fake company and giving him a deposit. He is a liar, misrepresents his so-called companies (which are too numerous to mention), he knows nothing about the landscaping or tree business except running up to the check cashing store with his stolen deposit checks.

What is unfortunate is that the state of Virginia and Prince William County are totally deficit and impotent in regards to stopping this cheat and fraud. Trying to pursue any legal action against his ever changing companies is an exercise in futility.

A one star rating is a hundred stars too many to rate this scumbag.



Custom Creations - Richard Sean Ryals

I cannot stress enough how horrific our experience was with Sean Ryals, owner of Custom Creations. Before we signed the contract, we checked out his company with BBB and viewed his portfolio of his supposed previous work. I wish I had known that he changes names quite often (previous names Cutting Edge, Arbor Tech). We hired Sean's company to demo our settling & cracked concrete (driveway, carport, pathway, front steps), pour new concrete and lay pavers. We paid him more than 50% & ended up firing him after a butchered demo job & no concrete poured. Sean had no oversight of job, he hires inexperienced laborers who openly admit never having operated machinery before, laborers don't show up b/c Sean doesn't pay them or provide them with the proper tools or equipment, workers borrowed tools from neighbors, drank beer on the job, slept on the job, left their cigarette butts and trash on the job. Workers destroyed our lawn, damaged our siding, door, extension cord, hose. Sean can't afford to rent or purchase proper equipment, tools, or materials. We took one of the laborers to Home Depot and purchased lumber for framing! Dumpster sat in front of our house for 2 months b/c Sean couldn't pay the bill. We fired him & hired another contractor who completed the work in 4 days. We had to threaten to take Sean to court if he didn't refund part of our money and have the dumpster removed. He is a con man & lies to your face.

This guy was supposed to be sentenced on Jan 12th (2012). Haven't seen anything in the local paper. Anyone know the results? I've read that since his latest arrest was his third similar offense in three years, the charge is a felony which means as much as five years in prison.

Hopefully the case wasn't continued once again which seems to be common for Ryals. He must have an attorney well experienced in delay tactics...just beat down the plaintiffs with delays and additional expenses and they'll finally say the Hell with it and stop further action.

Of course, the judges bear a portion of the responsibility as well for allowing these continuances. Remember their names when they ask for your vote next election cycle!

Plug "Richard Ryals" in the site above and search Prince William, Fairfax and Loudoun Counties for both criminal and civil cases (current and archived). You'll be totally amazed that he continues to do business and swindle people.

"PWC resident" called it exactly right about NoVA judges. With the unbelievable string of arrests Ryals has on the above website going back for years and years, every judge who's heard one of his cases for the last few years should be tossed out of the judiciary for not locking Ryals up a long time ago.

Looks like a fine upstanding citizen. NOT!

Well to say the least judge bean all you did is give him a free pass to change his strategy at ripping people off.Now hes employing people to complete jobs that arent insured nor experienced and without sighning any papers in refetence to the job.He then scamms the workers out of there money so you didnt achieve anything.
