Misdemeanor ... Impossible to expunge???

Hello all,
I have a misdemeanor from 2013. I was cited for petite larceny (under $20.00) and hired a lawyer. A horrible one that gave me terrible advice for $2,000.00. I served in the military, had a clean record until that day, obtained character recommendations from current employers and military friends alike, put in amazing hours of community service to show the court and was STILL convicted (but for a lesser charge of trespassing). He blamed the overzealous security guard that caught me, he showed up to the court, but seriously, you let them call me a "professional"? It was less than $20.00 no one is living off of that. Well anyway,
I moved on, I shook it off and never ever made the mistake of stealing again. I got 2 great new job offers despite my criminal record by being honest during the hiring process. BUT I want to get my record expunged. I heard it's impossible for the conviction of criminal trespassing, but how about the charge of petite larceny (petty theft)?
Does anyone have a good lawyer to recommend? So far this record has held me back from 2 great apartment homes that I can afford but apparently don't belong in :/
:(
