I went to Corpus Christi Catholic Church in South Riding once. Mass is at Hutchinson Farm Elementary on Sundays. The priest got up and gave a sermon on abortion, and it was highly inappropriate for a family mass. His focus was squarely on women who have an abortion, and he never touched on men's responsibilities toward raising unplanned children. After church my son asked "what's abortion." Ugh!

Does he hate women?

I guess since the priest doesn't have children, he doesn't understand what should not be discussed around kids.

Or does he just not care about children that go to church, because in this sermon, there was no Catholic message or "take away" for the kids. He just ranted on abortion.

It is Catholic churches like this one that give the Catholic Church an extremely bad rap.

It's a big problem, but how come I never hear about the percentage of non-Catholic pastors and priests that engage in this disgraceful behaviour?

So you didn't want the church to talk about abortion, and you didn't want to take the opportunity to talk to your child about our churchs belief. 3 of my 4 children know about abortion and they have all been to the March for Life. I don't want a priest to candy coat what God believes that we should do and how we should live. Doesn't abortion directly pretain to one of the 10 commandments. I know you would also hear that mass topic at St Andrews in Clifton, St Veronicas in Chantilly, and St Timothys in Chantilly. So step up to your parental duties and stop blaming the church and the priest for doing their jobs!! Thank you Father Taylor for being a holy example!!

First, according to the bible, God breathed life through the nostril, so if a nostril isn’t fully formed yet, there can't be God-given life, correct? Which of the 10 Commandments are you referencing? Before you answer, make sure you get the wording right. Hint; It is not what you think it is, and the commandment in question does not contain the word “kill.”

And, Jonah wasn’t swallowed by a whale, he was drunk; he had “a whale of a time.” If you thought Jonah was swallowed by a whale, you would be wrong. A whale’s throat is not much wider than your fist, and a whale certainly cannot swallow a human.

Mary Magdalene was not a prostitute as you were taught by the Catholic church. The Catholic Church smeared her reputation for like 20 centuries before they figured out she was actually a married philanthropist.

Just because the Catholic church doesn’t allow women priest now, how can Father Taylor assure us they won’t have female Catholic priest in 30 years? There were women Catholic priest’s about 70 years ago (what, they never taught you this tidbit of history?). Who is to say the global political environment will not necessitate woman priests in the near future? Somebody asked in another post about St. Timothy’s, “why punish girls for something they have no control over?” The same question can, and should, be asked here.

Don't blame the priests. Those Altar boys parade around in those hot outfits, are always bending over , and actually kneel in front of the priest.
