A teenager is facing charges for reckless driving after her car ended up in a pond in Lansdowne early Sunday morning.
Loudoun County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the pond at the intersection of Lansdowne Boulevard and Riverpoint Drive around 1:45 yesterday morning for report of an SUV that had driven through the T-intersection and entered the water. When deputies arrived on scene, the vehicle was partially submerged, but the driver was nowhere to be found.
Deputies determined from wet footprints leaving the scene that the driver had exited the vehicle and left the scene, but they had no indication where her or she went. Fire-rescue personnel responded to the scene and searched the vehicle and pond confirming no one else was involved. A LCSO K9 Unit, and Search and Rescue Unit were requested for the missing driver, and a Fairfax County Police Department helicopter responded to assist with the search.
Just as a Reverse 911 was about to be sent out the driver, an 18-year-old girl from Ashburn, was located at a residence. She was unharmed, but was taken to a local hospita to be checked out.
Charges are pending for reckless driving.
