Members of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia Department of Correction found all subjects that were visited on Halloween were in compliance with “Operation Porch Lights Out,” an initiative to keep registered sex offenders from participating in trick-or-treating.
The Sheriff’s deputies teamed up with parole officers on Oct. 31, visiting houses of known sex offenders in Loudoun who remain on probation or parole. They monitored homes on Halloween to ensure that the offenders were abiding by restrictions imposed.
If a convicted sex offender is on probation or parole, they are required to have their porch lights off with no inviting decorations and can’t answer their door for children.
The agencies conducted six random home visits to ensure compliance.
