A 12-year-old boy was stabbed Sunday night on the 100 block of Fort Evans Road in Leesburg around 9 p.m.
Leesburg Police said the boy was walking on Fort Evans Road when he was approached by a 16-year-old boy dressed in dark clothing. The teen then stabbed the boy and fled from the scene.
Police declined to elaborate further on the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the nature of the boy’s stab wounds and whether the victim and suspect knew each other.
“The case is still under investigation. We have released all the information we can at this time based on the fact that that it is an open case,” said Master Police Officer Christopher Tidmore, spokesman for the Leesburg Police Department.
The 12-year-old was treated on scene and was later airlifted to a local hospital for his injuries.
The Town of Leesburg served a search warrant around 5:30 a.m. Monday and an arrest was made by Leesburg Police Department. The 16-year-old is currently being held in the Loudoun County Juvenile Detention Center.
The victim is reported to be in stable condition and is being treated for his wounds from the attack.
