Watch out: Parents are letting their kids play in the street

I drove through South Riding a couple of days ago and on several streets I saw kids just playing in the streets.

I've come to expect teenagers in the streets with skateboards and bikes, etc. But I saw several little kids, no more than 3-5 years old, just playing in the street. One kid was just driving his Little Tikes car down the middle of the damn road. Mom and dad were a good 100 feet away, off in la-la land. These parents are complete f*cking morons. The street is not a goddamn playground, idiots.

South Riding has more people under the age of 10 than any other neighborhood in the country. Yes, they spill out onto the streets at times. Slow down.

The demographics are no reason to be stupid, keep the dopey brats out of the street.

Otherwise a tragedy is inevitable.

What does it matter whos right or wrong when little Timmy's head is flattened like a pancake?

Are you telling us children have the same reasoning abilities as adults?

I'm not BEH, but it's obvious children don't have the reasoning ability of (some) adults. This is precisely why parents need to monitor their children (i.e. "parent") and keep them out of the road, off illicit drugs, away from predators, glass shards, matches, gasoline, etc. etc.

The general premise seems completely reasonable to me: Children should never play in the road. The Virginia Legislature has even seen fit to make it illegal (VA Code 46.2-932).

There is no excuse for children, particularly young children, to "...spill out onto the streets".

Listen, I changed my mind.

Let your wonderful darlings play in the street.

In fact, please let them play in the highway , even though their reasoning abilities aren't equal to some of the clueless douchebags who post here.

Try 66 and 95,both great places for kids to burn their energy.

You ought to see them around here. The ice cream truck rolls around the local neighborhood, and 20 naked little kids from the 2 bedroom condo down the street pile out of the house to mob the driver, out in the middle of the road!!!. Wish I had a camera the last time it happened, would be a great pic to send in to the Ashburn Villager Magazine for "fun in the sun summer family time in Ashburn Village!!!" Great ad to attract new buyers into the area!!!

My parents always told me to stay out of the street. A distracted delivery man, teenager texting or housewife with PMS are real dangers. Wise up dumbshit parents.

It was inevitable:

06/08/14
1159 hrs.
Riding Center Dr./Unicorn Dr.
South Riding

Pedestrian Struck: A 7-year-female on a Razor scooter was struck while on the concrete portion of the roadway awaiting her family behind her. The driver, a 61-year-old Manassas man, was traveling east on Riding Center Drive when the juvenile female entered his motor vehicles path from the passenger’s side. Upon impact, the driver veered left and struck a center median divider. The child was transported by ground to Fairfax Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The juvenile was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. The crash remains under investigation.
