does it? i was under the assumption that we can just keep spending and spending and everything will be fine. gotta keep the world safe cuz freedom isn't free- or so i'm constantly hearing.

Wow Prez Bush's economic policy turning prez Clinton's biggest budget surplus in history into the biggest deficit in history. At LEAST under clinton we had 8 years of peace and prosperity. That and I could afford a house in FX county. NOW i have to move to West Va. Peace out for ever more

While riding on the bus to West Virginia read the US Constitution. The president doesn't have budget authority, the Congress does. The budget surpluss of the 90's and the budget deficits of the 00's are both Republican-controlled outcomes. When Republicans gained power after the Contract with America plan, that's when the budget was balanced.

However, when W, Dick, Rummy and Condi are breathing down your neck and remind you that you are just one of many congressional members, many of which are of the same party, I'm surprised they didn't all fork over their wallets as well. Remember that the executive branch has the power to revoke executive privileges and subsequent concessions. It's a scratch-my-back and I'll scratch yours, I promise type of relationship. -§
