Man stabbed in face, FFX police shoot and kill perp

So im drivin home from Kingstowne and see swat, detectives, dc news vans, and damn near half the force blocking off a 1/4 mile stretch of backlick. i get home and my roomate said when he was drivin home he saw a motorcycle officer with what appeared to be a body on backlick, anybody know why the perp stabbed the dude? What really happened today?
