South Lakes Sunoco - thieves

Just an FYI that I brought my car there for an oil change because it's close and convenient and I believe they stole a bunch of things from my car. The shops I normally use are places I have a long-term established relationship with so the thought of removing items of value from my car hadn't really been something I thought about much. I had tools in the car that you use to connect to a car that you use to diagnose that wonderful check engine light plus other tools like special socket bit sets (proprietary, not standard). I confronted them about it but they denied it. I filed a police report but with no proof except that a service technician would find these tools very desirable to have there's obviously nothing they can do. So I figured I would spread the word that these are some shady folks there.

I know it was stupid of me to leave the tools in the car so it's my mistake.

This is the Sunoco station in South Lakes Village Shopping Center (I think that's what it's called....there's a Star*ucks and Safeway in it along with the best pizza in the area: Flippin' Pizza)

I've been there before and although I am not certain, I had suspected they removed a few things from my truck when I left it for an oil change. I wasn't sure because I had recently moved and thought maybe the wrenches were in my other car, but here we are a few weeks later and I still can't find my stuff. Best case scenario is the customer service there is terrible. Worst case is they may take items from your vehicle.

I've always thought they had a good reputation. I've been buying gas from there for over twenty years, only had minor work done there but didn't feel they were shady. Could it have been stolen while in their lot? It's their responsibility to secure your vehicle but a litte diffent from employees actually stealing your tools.

Just curious.... You own an OBD2 diagnostic computer and specialized socket sets, but you take your car to Sunoco for a simple oil change? What's up with that?

That said, sorry about your tools. I had a lot of stuff stolen from a vehicle a while ago, and it pissed me off severely, especially that "why'd I leave all that stuff in my car?" kicking myself part.

Well like I said I went there out of convenience...I don't normally take my car there. And yes it's possible someone took the items while my car was in there lot but why would they only take certain things that were in different areas of the car (trunk, glove compartment & back seat).

I know they went through my car pretty well because I had them do a tire rotation as well and they called me up saying they could not find the wheel lock.

And when I spoke to the manager about it he immediately got very defensive and I didn't approach from a "someone from your shop stole my stuff" angle either so it was a surprise. And when I described the tool case he just kind of lackadaisically walked around the shop "looking" for it.

I would be down for a sting operation ;-)

My credit card numbers were stolen when I used my card there.

The prices are also fairly high. So, make sure you shop around

My neighbor claims his credit card numbers were also stolen there last week or so.
I've used that station for repairs in the past and have not had a problem.
I understand however that it is under new management???
