trailer question

Hey all, sold our house and need to move some big things to various places. Thinking about buying a trailer. These are just the ones with the 2x6's on the bed and gate towable on hitch. Saw a good price on a 6'x10' but didn't know if that was an odd size as many were 5'x8' or 5'x10'. Will be using it on the highway.

Thanks for any comments.

If you are only moving some stuff to your new house then why don't you rent a large uhaul truck?? How big is your vehicle and what is it's towing capabilities(weight)?

Good point. If you buy this trailer, do you have a place to store it?
Are you going to be using it enough to justify the expense? (licenseplates,
registration, insurance, maintenance) Perhaps having a trailer hitch on your car
and renting a U-Pull-it trailer would be more economical.

Rent for a day or two, if you've had no need for a trailer up to this point, there's a good chance you won't need one later

It's a little complicated. We've got a vacation home that's getting some stuff, moving some stuff to my parent's for awhile while we look for a new place to live. Will need to move from my parent's after we do. Can store the trailer and parent's acreage. May use it to run crap to the transfer station while we're moving out.

Thanks

I would still follow the suggestion about renting a truck or trailer as needed. My guess is that a trailer is going to cost at least $1000-1500 with ongoing expenses for registration, maintenance, etc., while a rental is maybe $50-75 each time. When we need stuff to hit the landfill I either look for someone on Craigslist to haul it away or hit up a friend or neighbor.

For what it's worth we have been downsizing a lot of stuff like this that was only being used 1-2 times per year like snowblower, 28' extension ladder and lawn vacuum. The snowblower was replaced by a newer and larger model which is shared with five neighbors on our cul-de-sac, but I realized that I really hate heights and it was better to pay someone to clean my high gutters than to risk falling to the ground and getting hurt. The lawn vacuum was a nice novelty which took up way too much space.
