And "stoling purse" is such a typo that you're either in no condition to speak to the police or not going to describe your theft to the police well anyway.. gl though!

you should hang yourself asap for being so stupid as to spell stolen wrong both in your message and on the topic, and also for not watching your belongings while you shopped for clothes for your 8 welfare babies. then you post on here for instructions on how to deal with this. god damn youre an idiot...

I guess I will break the trend here and actually respond to this poster in a dignified manner.

Don't waste your time calling the Fairfax County cops-they do NOTHING. I had my purse stolen out of a shopping cart at Giant in Springfield Plaza on Christmas Eve. Called the cops-they show up 30 minutes later and write down all the information. I contact my bank and cancel my cards. The bank was able to give me a printout of all the charges that took place within 30 minutes of the purse jacking-location and time. I go to the stores where the card was used-several say they can provide an image of the person if the cops come in with a memory stick. I call the cops again with all info-nothing happens. Call the captain of the Franconia station-get some BS about how my report got lost. Call again and still no return call.

And we wonder why these thugs get away with it? They know the drill. They know the cops won't lift a finger. I had my car broken into two weeks ago. This time I didn't even bother to report it. Waste of time.

I can understand your frustration and giving up hope in those that are paid to protect and serve the community, however the first time you called the police there wasn't a lot they could do for you at the moment simply because there was no physical evidence so they just took down your information. Did you speak with Giant loss prevention or even the manager to see if they got anything on camera??? If you really wish to follow up on such manner you NEED to show up at the station and literally demand someone to serve your case otherwise nothing ever gets done. I remember my friends old car was stolen of the street and we have reported it stolen but didn't contact the insurance company since it was worth around $500 and it wasnt worth much to him but it was in running condition. The pathetic thing is is that he was able to find his own car before the cops did, sometimes I really wonder just how much they care.....Lately I have been really losing hope in the local police department.........

Was there a dictionary inside the purse? If so, that is indeed, a tragedy.

I'd vote TJ Maxx as being worse than K mart.

A few weeks ago I was in the Walmart in Kingstown and had just stepped around the corner from my shopping cart. An employee approached me and warned me that they have at least one purse snatching a day there and to be careful.

Stores don't like to advertise that theft is prevalent in their stores-but people should be careful. God help the pig that tried to grab my purse from me-I would use a weed whacker on them.

One time I was in Manassas and stopped by the Wal-Mart there. I noticed empty carts in the cart dropoff area with items in them, and at least one purse. I think women just kind of load their stuff up and don't check the cart before they drive off, and from there it is finders-keepers.

pgens, I have seen the same thing. Soccer moms are too focused on the cell phone to pay attention to their purse or the road.
