They do have a couple of restaurants in old town Manassas that are far better than anything Fairfax county has to offer. The old town area is quite charming but they do need to get rid of that nasty motel. Overall It is nice but I would not buy a house there. Less crime than the Fairfax county and overall better quality of life as long as you do not have to do the commuter thing. Both the PWC and the FC have neighborhoods to avoid at all costs but overall the PWC is the better place.

Having been a resident of Fairfax and Prince William Counties (currently in Fairfax)....I will have to agree Prince William County is better.
10 years ago, I would have said Fairfax but since PWC has cracked down on the illegals, they are all here in Fairfax now- in my kid's school alone it has gone up from MAYBE 1-2 "illegals" (mainly hispanic and muslim/african from africa) in his class (which usually has 25-30 kids in it) up to 15(!). Now the whole class is slowed down so the ESL/Free lunch/TANF kids can catch up- and their parents pick them up in brand new F250's and Silverados- yet they get free lunch and take all the free stuff they can get. There have also been a LOT more fights between the "illegals" and the kids that have been going to the school for years (pretty even mix of white, black, and asian).
Even in my upper middle class neighborhood, more and more of the townhouses are having one hispanic move in with the mortgage or renting from someone.... and a month later, there are suddenly 6-7 "roommates" taking up all the visitor parking spaces so any of us with real guests can't find a place for them to park- even the usually empty street is FILLED with their work vans and broke down held together with duct tape and calvin pissing on something and mexico flagg'd cars lining the streets.
I am moving back to PWC next year. I can't take this anymore. Fairfax is basically saying "welcome all illegals" so I am OUTTA HERE.

I don't know about the City of Manassas but PW county is a much better place to own a luxury home. If you have no school age kids then PW is by far a better option.

I lived in FFX for over 20 yrs and it is not the same place it used to be. Don't believe all the bullshit you read on this forum and others about Manassas. There are far fewer brown people where I live now in Manassas (the county) than where I was in Fairfax.

In my Humble opinion which doesn't mean Squat, I have lived in Fairfax 42 years, I have worked in Manassas 27. I can say with some certainty you would be hard pressed to find anywhere to live where most wouldn't complain, I know a small Island in Maryland, Charles county where Black People are not allowed to own property, You would be hard pressed to find any Hispanics either, but the property isn't much better and most of the government services for Charles county suck. so whats the trade off? As Property values Lower and Salaries, or Minimum wage increase you will find the less fortunate migrating to make a better life. The Mexican Crap is pure ignorance seeing most Hispanics here are Salvador, El Salvador, Nicaragua, etc.. Legality is another issue, but most of the children involved in the Gangs where born here, which makes them American Citizens. The Sudley side of 28 (Built in 57) are generally Hispanic or Pure Redneck, the OTHER side of the tracks, Clifton side of Manassas Park is Better Educated and more affluent, which also runs the City Council. in either case you have to travel through Yorkshire and that buffers Fairfax from Manassas with more rednecks and yes a higher population of Hispanic. I am still baffled with the prices of Gas, I can only assume its the area that runs the price of gas, before becoming a part of the COG board there was a .25 cent difference, its now about the same price as Express Stop in Burke. But of course this whole thread goes along with many other threads, Your Work for Fairfax County and live in Front Royal or Beyond, Posters Bitch, They bitch about people living in the county, they bitch about the BOS, They Bitch about Taxes, They bitch about Traffic, THey Bitch to Bitch. If you hate it so much move where the air is clear, the people are white or Black depending on your race and you pay no Taxes, and get all the services, then let the rest of us know where that is. I've seen that on basically 90% of times Manassas has been mentioned casually, they always have to call it a name (like "Manasty", "Manexico", etc.).
They haven't been educated about the greatness of the town. Parts of it are improving (Old Town, east/southern part of town, Yorkshire getting new communities, and even Gtown South getting better people), and the town will always have the best stuff.

Old town Manassas is very nice and there are some nice little subdivisions just outside the city limits. The prince william schools do not cater to the immigrant kids the way Fairfax does and although the real estate tax rate here is higher we pay much less in taxes because our home is assessed for much less than our smaller home in Fairfax was.
Quality of life is better and less expensive in Manassas but I might feel differently if I had to commute to DC.

Northern Manassas is absolutely a shit hole. I went to look at an apartment here and I was confronted with fifty or so Mexicans and Jungle Niggers froo Central America , and the like. The apartments were selling for 1100. The a one-bedroom and looked like housing projects. People were seriously drunk-driving BMX bikes on the street. The whole fucked up mess lays at Prince William County Government's doorstep. Fix it or Fuck it, it WILL be there.

I like Manassas because of restless wheels, that place is great. Overall I would say everything is better in Prince William county but not necessarily in Manassas or Manassas Park.

Well it's official now that Sears hardware has turned into a appliance store the only decent hardware store in the area is JE Rice in Manassas. Things just keep getting better in Manassas while things just keep getting worse in Fairfax county.

Agree with you! I expected more to move to pwc but they are just moving further in. Fair oaks mall used to be 90 percent white now maybe just 20 percent. Also a lot of ghetto blk peeps coming in from dc due to gentrification.

Manassas is not so bad. If you are driving on RT 28 into Yorkshire (manassas)you will notice that it is slowly improving. If you drive a little further,Old. Town Manasas is also nice.

Im a FF in PWC DFR. I have been stationed in Manassas and east end of PWC. Both areas are shitholes. Manassas has gone straight down the shitter in the past 10 years. Coverstone, Irongate are almost on par with some of the shit areas in DC.
True, some things have improved since the illegals were removed. But tons moved back and it is almost as bad as ever. My advice is not to move to this dump.
Also, don't worry about public safety. We are about to get rid of the shitbag volunteers come March and PWC will finally be served by real professional firefighters. It has been a long time coming.
Don't even try to compare PWC schools with FFX CO. FFX blows PWC away. PWC = Shithole

Low taxes=poor public services. Rule of thumb, if you pay Mayberry taxes, you Barney Fife police performance. To be fair, there are unquestionably high-quality police professionals who choose to live and work in smaller, less remunerative departments. Don't expect them to have the resources or support to be found in the better-funded organizations.

The crime rate in Prince William is nearly half of the Fairfax county crime rate. Fairfax county has some good neighborhoods but fewer of them all the time.

Kids from Prince William have a much better chance of getting accepted at UVA. My cousin got in at UVA with a lower GPA than me and slightly lower test scores. She got in because she lives in PWC. I had to go to JMU instead. Sucks.

PWC roads are a lot better maintained for the most part. They are proactive in fixing them whereas FFX just patches until the road is falling apart.
Also, The Manassas area has a booming brewery expansion going on. There is Bad Wolf Brewing, Heritage Brewing, Tin Cannon Brewing, Old Bust Head Brewing, and soon, 2 Silos Brewing. Another new place is opening up in Old Town Manassas soon as well. A couple distilleries have opened up. Then you have the wineries near by. that is much better than FFX.....

The fish planks were crispy and the hush puppies and coleslaw were quite good. The fries were lukewarm and soggy. Of course I ate enough for three people and spent 27 dollars. Captain Dee s is good but it aint no Arthur Treachers.

I went to a HOMEDEPOT in manassas to field a tool. As usual California's HQ website lied: the product wasn't in the store (perhaps due to hispanic theft in the area)
I was helped by a young male who was large, smart, AND NOT PAID WELL. I thought MY GOD WHAT A WASTE. This guy should be making a killing in construction in a trained field of work. He's been robbed by hispanics.
He's been told by hispanics and niggers "he has to work" and steered to a job an old man or teen or illegal alien should be doing. Helping china helping california, requiring food stamps. he's helping democrats while being poor instead of building and earning real money.
THE PEOPLE DOING THIS ARE BUILDING $1,000,000 homes, doing the job he should have been trained into using illegal aliens, laughing at him.
MANASSAS ISN'T BETTER - IT'S CORRUPT. IT'S ALSO NOT AS DEEP IN DEBT AS FAIRFAX - IE, NO NORTH WING OF HIGH RISE BUILDIGNS. IT DOES HAVE MANSIONS AND WEALTHY AREAS - i've seen them on google maps.

Addys lounge on Balls Ford road is a great place to pick up older divorced women. It is quite convenient that it is located in the Best Western and Super 8 is right next door.
