Does anyone know what HID light temperatures are legal here

I'm planning to get HIDs for my car, since I drive out to south riding and such frequently. I'm just wondering what the legal temperature is in VA.

I don't think there are any limitations, but 4300K have the closest to the day light spectrum and thus provide the best illumination. More K's - more blue. 10,000K is the ultimate for a hard core ricer.

umm... shouldnt it be measured in lux or candlesticks (yes candlesticks! you got to love the english system) instead of temperature. i mean, LEDs have a far higher lux/watt output thus higher lux/Fahrenheit output so you could basically put the sun on the front of your car without it being too hot. i know some lights on cars are just LEDs. so, im curious about this law. i may need to add the sun to the front of my car. :P

and it's "candlepower" not candlesticks...

either way that would tell you nothing about the spectrum of light being dispersed.

For all the dullards and dimwits in here:

Temperature is a measurement of the color of light produced by a lamp as measured on the Kelvin scale. The lower he color temperature, the more yellow the output. The higher the color temperature, the more blue the output. Sunlight is about 6500K.

Not legal whatsoever if the housing of your headlights were not designed to fit such HID devices. You will only blind people with the glare if you do so. HID housing = HID, Regular Halogens = Not HID compatible.

You see this shit on shitty cars and trucks.

Dont be like this..

I would buy a large truck and veer directly into the path of cars with the douchlights installed.

Officer, I was blinded by the intense headlight beams that were also misaligned and aimed too high. I guess the proof is all in hundreds of pieces on the road along with the driver.

Ahhhh, dreams.

If you really want to install HID's in your vehicle and you don't have projector-style headlights, you can retrofit a projector into most housings. Google has plenty of write-ups for your specific car most likely.

Don't be an ass hat and put 8000k HID bulbs into your stock Civic housings.

Only put HID's into projector housings. If you put them into reflector housings, you blind everyone and won't pass inspection anyway. In a projector, you might get by if you run 4300k or 5000k.
