Has anyone ever tried Willard's over by the Dulles Expo center? I happened to pass by earlier and stopped by, the place was packed and the food was great!

This is the worst BBQ I have ever had. I had the pulled pork and jerk chicken both awful. The pork was dry and the chicken had no flavor at all...no smoke....no jerk...no nothing. I tried it only because of their ratings. Honestly this has to be the worst I've ever had.

Good luck selling your bile . It really smacks of desperation when you need to advertise for free on a message board.

I will continue to comment on your pathetic shit hole eatery as well. You can't prevent that anymore than you can prevent the bowel diseases you give your customers.

Some reviews:

First, jerk chicken while it had good flavor was dry as sawdust. Same with the cornbread. Bakes beans had nothing that made them special. Couldve just come out of a can. Black eyed corn wasn't cooked thoroughly. The blacked eyed peas actually crunched!!! A big no no. The one bright spot was the brisket that was very moist and had a good, light smoky flavor. Much of BBQ is marketing and appearance. No one working here looked like they knew anything about BBQ. It was as if the founder took the week off and left the hired help in charge. Therefore quality control...serving obviously dried out food and undercooked sides...had gone out the window. I'll try again but they need to improve. Far from being the best BBQ around.

And:

Okay to try once, but they fell short in too many of the essentials. If you go, get tue pulled pork which was quite respectable. But, the flavor of the ribs was almost non-existent - although the texture of the ribs was excellent. The main sauce was all tang up front with no follow-through of identifiable flavor. So, I tried their "Gold" sauce, which looked completely different but tasted exactly the same. No fries, which a detractor for me personally. However, their excellent mashed potato gravy made it easier to bear. The sweet tea was more like an Arnold Palmer. They allowed me to switch to something else, thankfully. The meat was better with no sauce at all. It's always good to try something new. But, considering that the combo platter was rather expensive for the quality of flavor, I'm not likely to be back.

Also:

If that's the best BBQ in VA, then you guys need to come to the south. I had the pulled pork, brisket & jerk chicken...everything tasted 3 days old!

And more:

Was in VA for business, looking for a local place for descent BBQ (im from GA so im skeptical, I would find a place). Saw Willards review on here figure I would give it a try, WILL NEVER GO OFF REVIEWS AGAIN. The Ribs were tender and had a good smoke taste to it Im not big on sauce but if I was the Ribs would have not been the highlight (glad the sauce was on the side) other then that everything else was TERRIBLE!!! I have family from Louisiana and I cook cajun/creole dishes never had dirty rice with gravy nor with the gizzards/sausage or any type of meat missing. Guess in VA thats dirty rice (white rice with gravy). My second side was the bake beans or should I say mush beans (picture refried beans in a bland red sauce). From a TRUE SOUTHERNER to ANOTHER.......STAY AWAY your better off going to Franchise Famous Dave which is not the BEST but better than WILLARDS. OH and the SWEET TEA was WEAK!!!!!

Wow! Sounds great, doesn't it?

I have eaten there several times,
I have always had good service and good food,
And yes, I have had BBQ from various places around the country. NC/ TX/ MO
Is the food award winning?, I don't think so, Is it good?, Yes,,

But then again some folks (BEH) like to wander through life bitching about every and anything to draw attention

My job caters from there once in a while. I have had the beef brisket several times and have always been pleased with it.

Get a Life Dude!! Willards is as good a BBQ place as we have in No VA. The BBQ itself is very good, the sides not as much. If yo could combine Willards pulled pork with Red Hot and Blue Potato Salad you would have a GREAT BBQ place.

I tried Williard's about a month ago and I agree with the above posters- to me the meat tasted like it had been sitting awhile, pretty dried out. I had to drown my beef in sauce to get any moisture back.

Not to mention when I tasted the meat as is it really had no flavor to it -it was just plain burnt beef- not smoke, burnt. THe sauce was just ok but I felt like someone used some 99 cents Kraft BBQ sauce and added a few spices and called it their own. I took one bite of my bland cornbread and nasty baked beans and threw the rest out.

Won't go back unless the person that wants to go is paying for me. I can do better at home.

Willards is pretty darn crappy.

Did I ever relay the story of when I went in there and ordered "a barbecue sandwich" - a term which throughout the south means pulled pork on a bun - and when I picked up my order, they had given me some horrible thing that had assorted meats and sausage on it. Fucking carpetbagger fake barbecue.

No matter where I go, be it VA, NC, SC, GA, FL, TN, or AL, if I go into a supposed "barbecue" joint, I order a barbecue sandwich. And I end up with a pork sandwich. It's a ubiquitous term in the barbecue world. At least outside of retarded places like TX and Kansas City.

Not at that piece of shit Chantilassesullesburnwhateverthefuckthatareaiscalled fake bbq restaurant.

Fucking slices of sausage. Who calls a fucking sausage sandwich a barbecue sandwich?

I didn't care for it, honestly. Maybe buying some bulk meat for an event, but otherwise I can't say I'd recommend it.
Better off at Famous Dave's even, and that place is as mediocre as they come, good sauces though.

Willard's is a gnat on a dog's dick compared to Ben's Whole Hog. Sold a few years back in Manassas Park, that had a real pit, with the big ol' hog in there with an apple in his mouth. And real Carolina sauce.

Now you're talking. Ben's Whole Hog was an amazing place. At its peak, it was probably the best barbecue joint in the entire state and gave other state's a run for their money. It was that good.

I was pretty upset when Ben's took a tumble toward the end, then shuttered its doors.

Just smoke your own stuff. It is better, better for you, and kicks the shit out of any restaurant. Good cue doesn't need sauce unless you want it/like it that way. I've been smoking butts, ribs, brisket, and chicken for years. It isn't difficult or complicated. Find your preferred blend of wood and cuts of meat. We are at the point where my kids won't even eat cue out because it doesn't compare to the homemade stuff. My 8 year old got a pulled sandwich from a place mentioned here and told me it was nasty.

Hell, even electric smokers will give you a better product than any of the restaurants.

Ain't hard, just do it. Plus, it is fun.

The food taste like it had been sitting under a heat lamp and had dried out. The beef brisket and cole slaw were both very dry. Costco may actually have a better product, and at $5, it's hard to beat.

Just more of these obtuse MEN people hard at work here. They all have Barbi-Q stories to tell about that time that blah-blah-blah. Nobody at all cares about any of these stories, but they are MEN, so they have to tell them anyway. How many MEN does it take to change a light bulb? None, you just do it yourself.
