Penderbrook by the golf course is good. I rented there several years back.

Why not add on another roommate and rent a townhouse or single family. This might include some minimal yard work, but is far superior to apartment living in NoVA. The costs are similar. You'll get better parking, better neighbors, better rooms, outdoor space.. Better LIVING.

BTW guys, no offense, but it's apartment, not appartment. I noticed it mispelled twice in the thread!

$1400/month for a 2BR/2Bath sounds unrealistic, unless you are looking in some really shady neighborhoods. I think you will have to pay more like $1900/month for something like that.

If you can afford 1900 a month for an apartment, you can afford a mortgage.

1900 a month mortgage may end up being a townhouse in a shady area. i'd rather pay a bit more and see if you can get a townhouse in a better area (there's some places that zone to Oakton going for the upper 300s and are within a 15 minute walk to Metro).

3 folks in a townhouse which has 2 parking spaces and not much guest parking can lead to issues.

I rented in that area eight years ago and my rent was nearly $1,400 then. Can't imagine you can get an apartment like that now for that price.
