SL wins Baron Cameron Bowl against Herndon 21 - 7. ` South Lakes looks much improved this season. Refs were horrible. Should have easily been 35-0 SL. Friday it's SL vs Stonebridge.....*sigh*...not looking forward to that one.

They lost to Stonebridge, then got wiped out by West Springfield (28-0 at half-time).

Langley @ Chantilly was a great game. Lots of back and forth; Tilly scored with 1:30 left to take a 35-28 lead. Langley responds with a TD with just :30 left but a missed XP leaves the final score at 35-34 Chantilly.

Chantilly/Langley was a great game. Glad they got a win, but the result was disappointing as it shows they are not a contender this year. Westfield has established themselves as the team to beat in D6, unbelievable with the 40 seniors that graduated, but they're loaded. They probably should have started Mullins as a jr last year at qb, he's good.

Fairfax (-6.0) @ McLean Fairfax 23-0 *great performance
Falls Church @ Marshall (-9.5) Falls Church 45-25
Herndon @ Yorktown (-35.0) Yorktown 51-21
Langley @ Chantilly (-14.0) Chantilly 35-34
Lee @ West Springfield (-10.0) West Springfield 33-14
Madison @ Hayfield (-10.0) Madison 24-17 UPSET
Mount Vernon @ Centreville (-24.0) Centreville 30-22
Stone Bridge (-40.0) @ South Lakes Stone Bridge 49-6
Stuart @ Annandale (-10.0) Annandale 32-27
TC Williams @ Robinson (-13.0) Robinson 40-21 *junior back runs for 413 yards and 6 touchdowns! Only attempted 2 passes all game.

Woodson @ Oakton (-35.0) Oakton 28-0
Wakefield @ Jefferson (-20.0) Jefferson 45-6
Washington Lee (-7.0) @ Edison Edison 14-0
West Potomac (-1.0) @ South County West Po 49-39
Westfield (-3.0) @ Lake Braddock Westfield 49-29

Centreville has been looking good in the first half of the past two games, but not really playing well in the second. Concerned with the injuries, although when we get some guys back, including Taylor Boose, they should play better. They are very young but in a couple of years they could be near where they were last year.

Yea Big One!! Another Concorde Team win against the pack of individuals from LB. Westfield used these guys as LB picked up multiple Unsportmanslike conduct penalties from players and Coaches. It starts at the top with the Head Coach making a fired Coach his DC so his kid will play for him.

Cville beat them first with a young BUT together TEAM. Annandale almost beat them with much less talent BUT a TEAM that plays together. NOW we see what happens when a TEAM with as much Talent, but is a TEAM does to them.....BEAT DOWN

LB motto for the year: There is no I in team..... BUT there is a ME!!

Thanks for mentioning my Alma mater. Yorktown has been dominant in D5 for years. I only wish we had the enrollment of a Robinson or a Lake Braddock. Their coaching staff led by Bruce Hansen is some of the best in Northern VA.

Cool the jets there broseph. Yorktown has been good in D5 for years, but dominant isn't the word you are looking for. Save for a few exceptions, D5 has been owned by SBridge for almost a decade - Yorktown wasn't even the most dominant team in their own district when Vaughn Lewis was coaching at Edison.

Yeah, people say that Coach Lewis ran a great program at Edison. I only mentioned "crazed's" alma mater (Yorkown) b/c of the speed showed vs. Friendship Collegiate in UMD's 7-on-7 final. PL 7-on-7 is not real FB, so I might checkout Yorktown-Hayfield this Fri. No disrespect to the D5s up here, but people from ER think mostly about SB b/c we tend to see them more at states. D5 is big in ER b/c schools are smaller, save for O.Smith, Salem, etc. So you have teams like Phoebus and Hampton doing pretty well. Here in NR, you are lucky b/c you can see good D6 FB every week and also teams like SB in D5.

stone bridge and edison deserve there credit. But yorktown has been among the top teams in D5 since 1988 in the NR. a couple of 500 seasons thrown in there. I can think of plenty of people that would call in dominance. 100 wins the last 12 years.

Ever see video of South Koreans on driving ranges? they whack the hell out of buckets and buckets and buckets and buckets of balls, but they have never actually been on golf course because golf courses are too few and far between over there.

That's what 7-on-7 passing leagues are like. Want to teach your quarterback to throw little dink and dunk passes through passing lanes that will be clogged with Defensive lineman when real football starts? 7-on-7 is for you. Want to have your quarterback learn to wait that extra second that is NOT going to be there during real football, 7-on-7 is the way to go.

If anything, it may help your DBs with their timing, but to equate 7-on-7 success with gametime success is a joke.

Puh-leeze, NOTHING predicts gametime success well except gametime success. Rank on PL all you want, but FB practices, drills and scrimmages don't predict well, either. A recent example is how W'field is 3-0 and looking good despite losing ta scrimmage to DeMatha 52-6. http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/dematha-in-mid-season-form-against-westfield/2012/08/18/5ca642dc-e943-11e1-a3d2-2a05679928ef_video.html. While you were watching S. Korean golf, maybe you didn't notice that the winners of every major PL tourney (UVA, UMD, GC and Coolidge) have good FB programs: GC, Friendship Collegiate, Kenton Academy (OH), etc. As for the D-lineman missing from PL, they get trapped by smart teams who do more than just base block. Plus, they clog the passing lanes a lot less vs. teams who force D's to play the entire field with posts, go's, wheels, outs and unders. Want examples? See the D6 and D5 title games last year: O. Smith 47, C'Ville 21; Phoebus 20, SoCo 10. Again, nothing predicts gametime success except gametime success--not PL or anything else.

Just a minor nit-pick, Kenton is not an academy, but a small public school. They sported the Mauk brothers at QB over the last few years (one went to Cincinnati and the other went to Mizzou).

Wow, it figures that Kenton has a passing tradition. We saw them beat Friendship Collegiate in the nat'l championship at Coolidge. Their O was disciplined and the D was physical. I was there with somebody who plays at South Carolina; we both were surprised at a few of the hits. One Friendship kid got ejected for one and shortly after that an LB for Kenton just leveled a Friendship receiver.

How great is the matchup this Friday at West Potomac. The Hendersons come back to WP with WP 3-0 and LB 1-2! I believe that WP will make them 1-3 and have the final laugh. If you are a WP player you gotta get jacked for this game! Look for QB Hendo to get dirty as WP plants him on his old Home field. The current WP Coach seems to be a good Coach and is I am sure downplaying the Hendo thing, BUT Come On! Their Dad had not even left the building after getting Fired and they were already attending classes at LB.

Man I hope WP puts a whoopin on them Bruins

Wow, that is a great game. Good for West Po still playing good football. I know a lot of people including myself thought they would fall off a lot. I just can't imagine how good they would have been if Henderson stayed at qb.

Another good game this week is Chantilly's homecoming against West Springfield. West Springfield is averaging a 24 point victory and is 3-0, I'm curious to see how they will do against Chantilly after going up 24-0 against Robinson a couple weeks ago at the half. I don't think anyone was expectingWest Springfield to come out of the gates the way they have.

You want to see the best rivalry in NR? CVille vs Wfield on Oct. 26. Both teams get up for this game, and it means everything to the students. It's gonna be a good game, and maybe some revenge given by Wfield for last years loss in NR Championship?

Thanks, NR Fan. I saw C'Ville make a lot of good plays at UVA vs. O. Smith last yea. The score was misleading and would been a lot of closer if C'Ville's star hadn't gotten hurt early. You are lucky up here to have so much depth in D6. I'll def go to W'field-C'ville and will plan to get there early based on your post. I was thinking of seeing WestPo this weekend since they are doing well but am probably going to head to D5 Yorktown-Hayfield Fri. and try to check out Westpo the next week.

Westfield will trounce Centreville this year. Trust me I've seen them both. Almost every year Westfield-Chantilly is a much better game. Last year Centreville had a real special team, but this year neither Chantilly nor Centreville will give Westfield a game.

For the past couple years now, I've been putting together a weekly guide to the varsity football playoffs during the season for friends at a few local schools my family is at, namely Edison, Hayfield and Lee. The sports boosters said they liked it, but they have to be equally supportive of all of the school teams. Yesterday, my brother told me I should ask if anyone would be interested in the local community, and this was the only place I know of to reach the high school football fans. If anyone would like, I would gladly send them a .pdf or .docx of my guide if they send an e-mail to me at ncareylee@gmail.com.

Lets all be honest here about WP. I am a local community person and a FHHS grad. Say what you want about Henderson the coach the bottom line here is that the kids playing now are talented. Especially Pearsen-El. The seniors now they were coached up right for there 3 years in HS. Henderon took a bunch of so so kids and made a really good team over the years. Truth is the new coach inhereted this talent and they were all coached up by the former coach. The new coach he is enjoying the hype of another coaches hard work. Happens all the time. Dont get me wrong the new coach he might be good but only time will tell. I do think that the game will be a good one tomorrow!

Yeah, okay Mr. Henderson. The new coaching staff has totally changed the offensive schemes and what program that wins doesn't have talented players? To give Coach Henderson credit seems a little bullish to me.

I'm also "in the community." The only thing that has carried over from Henderson's regime is the players still dress in the same locker room and play on the same field. And maybe a bag of footballs. That's it. Some fo the differences? Probably too many to list here, but here goes: The fact that WP has a D1 kicker that can hit 50 yard FGs was never an issue with the spread offense guys, they thought they could score at will from anyplace on the field. This year, that kicker is seen as an offensive weapon. Players -- ALL players -- are being held accountable for the first time in years. There is discipline on this team that has not been seen in years. Check out the number of penalties last week against South County if you want proof. Against Centreville, the game was won thanks to an EIGHT MINUTE DRIVE, something that the former spread offense couldn't achieve vs. a scout team in practice, let alone a state finalist team.

This team is in a far better place -- and in far better hands -- with Jeremiah Davis at the helm.

Keep thinking that and it will only be sweeter when Cville beats Westfield this year. Westfield is very good, BUT this is a rivalry game and strange things happen during these type of games. These games are a blast to go to just for the excitement they generate for the kids and community.

That is the point! They are better without the Henderson kid! They are now a team! Coach Hendo was out to highlight his kid and anything else be damned. Should be a great game tonight! if West PO can get Pierson-El loose it will be a long night for LB.

And by the way the QB there now is pretty good, much better runner than Hendo. Throws a nice ball as well

Hmmm...saw the LB QB throw tonight.

Is anyone impressed with the way he goes downfield with the ball? Sure, he had good touch on the 10-15 yard swing passes, but as far as going downfield with a 20-25 yard strike...

Plus, great weather tonight, and plenty of time to wing it.

Not so sure what the hype is.

I've seen Henderson play Westfield and Centreville this year, and Westfield twice last year when he was at West Po as a sophmore. I can say I am thoroughly impressed with his throwing ability and his deep ball. He is the best qb I've seen in the last several years and better than Nebrich (Nebrich had a much better team) in my opinion although that's up for debate.

Henderson is a lock as a D1 Qb and there was a reason he was rated in every list as a top sophmore qb nationaly last year. His deep ball is spot on, not sure how he looked tonight but the numbers were solid and this is coming from a Westfield fan. He's the real deal.

Coach Taylor is 5-10 at Robinson, he's busy destroying his own program although props for their battle against Westfield last night.

Woodson's lack of players is destroying the program, the play calling has gotten better. It's like all average schools though, talent comes in waves, you guys won't be bad forever.

Woodson excels in basketball almost every year. That tells me they have talent walking in the hallways. When rich Rodriguez took over West Virginia he didn't make excuses that he had to play top talent and didn't have a lot of talent. He saw talent on the basketball court, recruited those kids, and introduced the spread offense at West Virginia. All I've heard on this site for two years is excuses from the coaches who post on here. How about stepping up and taking some responsibility. They had a few great offensive coaches there last year who left because they wanted to run a better offense that would work. All of them are successful at their new jobs this year. Their head coach has been a defensive coordinator for years and now calls the offense in what is arguably the absolute worse offense in all of Virginia. The d coordinator was terrible at Madison and now woodsons defense is terrible and Madison is suddenly pretty decent. I predict they win one game and the head coach resigns

I know Dishun, I guarentee he won't resign. He's a good guy in a terrible situation and every coach deserves 3 year to get a program off the ground as long as he is running the program ethically.

Your West Virginia argument is flawed considering Woodson's basketball team does not have that much speed other than Bowles, I doubt they'd make a difference, maybe 2 position players at most (then Rich Rod tried the same approach at Michigan and got destroyed). Second, most good basketball players in the region do not play football, sure there are several that do, but most don't want to risk injury, esspecially if the football team is terrible. It's one thing to play both sports at Westfield but why risk a shot at college basketball to play for a 2 win football team? If I'm a parent or coach I'm in my kid's ear discouraging it.

Now none of us are practicing with the team so you or I really can't comment on how the team is being coached. Players are going to come on here and whine like cowards to justify their sucking as a coach problem and not accepting the fact there is no talent on that team.

You have no idea what you're talking about if u say the play calls have gotten better. We threw 5 times against Lee. And we completed most if them. The ones we didn't complete led to pi's being called. We could've passed on them all game. But since coach is obsessed with 1940s football we didn't change things up at all. As usual. And please spare me the crap about talent. In not saying we should be winning 7 games, but we should be winning more than we have since he's been here. That team that he coached to 2 wins last year had like 6 or 7 D2 and D3 players on it. This team was up on Madison at halftime and shouldve killed Lee. Instead we are 0-4. Terrible offensive play calling. He was brought here to run the D! Instead he hands the D to that bum coach from Madison who can't coach a lick. And coach d runs the offense?! Makes no sense. And don't compare this bum to Coach Taylor. Coach Taylor had wtw football winning. He took over Robinson at a time when they have no talent and he still has them co

First of all, coaches often have their own handshake line next to the players. Pay attention next time.

Second, ask coach henderson what his reaction was to coach Davis saying "good game" repeated twice. I'd type it here but there is no Gutteral Grunt font on this board.

It was the players who showed class on the field by hugging their former classmates. Players from both the winning and losing teams.

Wrong again. What you saw were 2 freshman coaches that were on the sidelines, but were not coaching the game. One of them had already talked to the former coach the night before, the other one doesnt even know the former coach.
As soon as the final whistle blows, they set about rounding things up on the sidelines. And it has happened that way for at least the last 4 years, If you had been paying attention.

I saw Coach Henderson do one of those "high five... OOPS you missed" deals with Coach Davis. It was followed by the slide the hand through your hair move. Davis wiffed like a champ. He found it not so humorous and his follow through was so awkward that it made many of his own players chuckle.

Henderson just kept walking on to the next set of coaches where they were not so trusting of his outstretched hand. But slowly they all did take it making a physical connection that magically bridged the future to the past in a long awaited act of closure. Davis ignored the event for a few minutes before shaking off the embarrassment and getting back to what matters. INSTALLING DISCIPLINE IN THOSE KIDS!

I saw all the kids leave the field exactly how they were supposed to.

So Coach Davis got the last laugh!

UPDATE:
The coaches on the pressbox continue to be absent from the handshake line, a search party as returned empty "handed".

Those 2 coaches in the WP pressbox did not have the balls to own the loss and should have gone to that very special WP coaches line to shake hands. They acted like temper tantrum 2 year olds showing there "accountability and discipline" for all to witness.

Bad to represent WP that way. But even worse to set that kind of example for the players.

All you need to know about the "class" from LB is the way they handled the last drive where they scored with 7 seconds left in the game. West Po showed class by not blowing some kids knee out on the following kickoff.

LB and specifically Proythress has absolutely NO CLASS. They are the biggest bunch of trash talkers and bitches in the Northern Region. They lose with no class and they win with less. I saw the replay of the game and everyone of the West Po coaches was in the coaches line shaking hands with the LB coaches, so I don't know where the poster who said that got his info. LB will implode before the year is out, mark my words. They have a bunch of talent that cares about their talent. They are NO team. 2-2 right now and they will beat up on their cupcake district and make the playoffs. They will make no noise in the Playoffs, except to complain and bitch about something.

It is definitely better to coach from the field than it is to coach from Fairfax Underground. Much better vantage point.

You're kidding right? Did u not read what the WTW staff did? They took a knee on 4th down w a second left on the clock from their own 20. They handed points to the other team. If that is what comes from their 100s of planning hours then they need to quit. Plain and simple. Get a peewee coach in there ASAP. Fire WTWs entire football staff. Sure they won't win because the talent is subpar but at least a new coaching staff would teach the game correctly.

Again, those 50yd stadium goggles you've got on give a you slightly different view of the field. You SEE only a portion of the entire scheme; 4 quarters on a Friday night. These coaches LIVE months of intense planning and strategy. Sometimes it pans out. Lots of times it doesn't. Seems to me that the solution is as simple as getting you past FCPS HR and giving you a whistle, clip board and a silk screened shirt. Try it out and get back to us with your rate of success. But until then back off.

I don't have a kid at WTW or Lee but I wish I was there just to see it, it must have been a riot for anyone not cheering for WTW. The most likely logical explaination would be either the coach forgot it was forth down or he instructed his QB to dance around in the backfield for a second to run out the clock before taking a knee and the QB didn't execute the play.

The WTW athletic director is a clown. It's a mess over there with that program. I chalk it up more to a lack of talent than anything. Coach Dishun is not the problem despite being the scape goat by the parents.

As truth posted, Dishun inherited a weak program, 3-7 before he got there with most key players seniors. They probably won't win a game this year, but when scheduling Oakton and Chantilly they can't expect to win.

Enough about Woodson though, this is not a Woodson thread and it is drowning NR talk about real football.

Good point, too much about woodson, but they are stuck with their idiot athletic director. I heard he applied for the Robinson job and didnt even get a second interview. What a joke.

If all these WTW posters would put as much effort to helping their football program as they do to posting here they would have to be better then the pathetic efforts I see on the field. Face it your Kids suck!!! You can blame the Coach all you want, but the reality is your kids have no talent and No heart! They have quit on more coaches than any other school in the Region. Get a new Coach and you will get the same result. NOW lets get back to talking about REAL football teams.... the Concorde District games are getting ready to start.

The word is out on how the school districts will be re aligned. The biggest winner from what I can see is Centreville who will now pull from Hampton Chase and points West of Colchester Road. Fairfax is hosed!

Woodson DSA is a good man and definitely not the problem. It seems like the coach and players who are on the field actually doing the work and failing are the problem. Woodson seems to do fine in every other guy's sport such as basketball, wrestling, lacrosse, soccer and baseball. I guess since they excel in most of those sports we can give credit to the DSA also right???

Go to the VHSL website and you will see how the realignment of schools will work out and sorry but no new border changes are taking effect, not sure what idiot told you that lie. The districts are now going to be called conferences and schools will be arranged and lumped together based on population size and location. If anyone really benefits from this it will be Stone Bridge. Concorde will remain intact.

I would argue that with Stone Bridge in a new district with Briar Woods, Broad Run, and Tuscarora they may be entering into a much tougher district.

The guy that keeps coming on here and defending the WTW coaches is obviously Dishun or Bianchi. Those two guys could lead the way to a picnic in their own back yard. No leadership qualities and to make things worse, no football IQ. Sad but true. The proof is out there now. There is nowhere for Dishun and company to hide after last weeks debacle when they kneeled on the ball on 4th down in their own territory with 2 seconds left on the clock. Pure idiocy. Good luck blaming the kids for that blunder that even pewee coaches don't make. The DSA is not the problem here. He isn't perfect but he is not the problem when it comes to football. Losing is one thing but under Dishun they haven't even been competitive. That 3-7 season before Dishun got there they were at least competitive in va handful of games. Big difference. Fire Dishun fire Bianchi.

Woodson has played 2 good games in a row. They were no where near a West Springfield talentwise yet hung in there until the end losing 14-10. West Springfield is the same team that won 3 of its 4 games by 20+ including smashing Robinson.

Job well done Cavs!

Now other scores in the region
Broad Run over Herndon 37-7 (Herndon falls to 0-5, likely a 0-10 season for them)

Chantilly over Edison 48-25 (Chantilly fell behind 13-0 and then smoked them as they should. Sets up a great Chantilly-Westfield Battle of Chantilly next week. Chantilly has a doozy though with undefeated Westfield followed by undefeated Oakton.)

Westfield over Fairfax 35-3 (expected and 5-0, now they play 4-1 Chantilly)

Mount Vernon 34, Falls Church 12 (very disappointing for FC)

Centreville 17-16 over Hayfield (Hayfield robbed, watched the video and they scored the winning 2pt conversion in ot)

Madison 24-21 over Langley (Madision is going back to the playoffs it looks like, very big win after an impressive one at Hayfield)

Mclean over Marshall 42-6

Oakton over Lee 42-0 (they're legit)

Robinson over South County 53-23, impressive night for the Rams, Wilson scored 6tds!

Stone Bridge over Jefferson 42-7, for them TJ battled hard
