If you are allowed to transfer to LB without following the rules, it sucks that all those families that moved in the last few years weren't told. They could have saved a crap load of money, especially since either way they were going to be told they are not allowed to choose what's best for their kids before getting approval from all the haters.

Follow the hate you find something great!

VA preps surveyed local coaches asking what players were to make an impact in the coming season. Some interesting responses

Northern Region Players to Watch
We surveyed coaches from around the state asking them to indicate who were the best offensive and defensive players in their district and why they chose the players that they did.

Their answers supplied us with some ideas about which players are expected to shine on the fields this Fall on Friday nights.

Here are their thoughts...

Offense

Kyle Downer, QB, Oakton

"Big, athletic, smart and experienced."
"He is a big physical runner who can hurt you with the pass or run. He is a playmaker for their offense."
"He has the arm and foot work of a pocket passer with the strength and speed of a running quarterback. He is truly a dual threat."

Sonny Romine, QB, Chantilly

"Athletic, smart, experienced and a playmaker at crunch time."

DeAndre Harris, RB, Chantilly

"Elusive and quick, can make something out of nothing."

Jordan Coneys, WR, Falls Church

"He is a rising junior and very explosive with amazing jumping ability. As a 10th grader, he had 37 catches for 587 yards and 6 touchdowns. Looking to have a huge Junior year."

Ryan Burns, QB, Stone Bridge

"He has a big arm, he just needs to do it in a game situation."

Rassaun Goldring, RB, Stone Bridge

"Will be the surprise , great returner, great hands, solid running back."

Caleb Henderson, QB, Lake Braddock

"Because of his blend of size and agility. He also delivers a great pass and makes good decisions."
"A proven player who had a good finish to the year. Henderson will be very tough in that offense."

Jonathan Dunn, RB, West Springfield

"Ran for 1,500 yards last year on a team that had trouble passing."
"Probably the best back in the region ? can run, catch, and is physical ? proven performer."

Others mentioned without comment:
Mike Wandey, RB, Oakton
M.J. Stewart, RB, Yorktown

Defense

Andy Boone, DB, Oakton

"An explosive player when he is on offense and special teams. Three year varsity player. Has a ton of experience. A ball hawk who has the speed to run with anyone's deep threat."

Jake Pinkston, DT, Robinson

"1st team last year as a sophomore was dominate then and should be more dominate this year."
"He is a problem. He takes away run to his side. Very physical and strong."
"Dominating."

Sean Huelskamp, LB, Chantilly

"I think he will be one of the best, if not the best, linebacker this year."

Jon Allen, DE, Stone Bridge

"Quite simply put, he is the most athletic and destructible force to any offense."
"Top defensive player in the country."
"He disrupts every offensive scheme. His ability to get in the backfield and make plays is unlike any player I have seen."
"Do I really have to answer this one? May be the best high school football player I have ever seen."

MJ Stewart, DB, Yorktown

"The most dynamic player in the region. MJ's ability to break on the football makes him a division 1 caliber athlete."

Oren Burks, LB, South County

"Multi-talented defender, can put his hand in dirt and play in space."

Bunmi Rotimi, DL, West Potomac

"He is a disruptive force on the defensive line. He is just starting to scratch the surface of his potential and an all around great person."

Frank Sturek, DB, West Springfield

"Free safety that will cover the entire field."

I coached HS football in Ohio a few years ago. Its a different environment there. The coaching depth is much better and the gene pool has much more natural talent in it. There are many more Division 2/3 level football players there than in VA. The best players here are equal to the best players there, but the second level players in Ohio are much closer to the top talent than in VA.

Westfield will once again prove to be the class of the Concorde. No superstars, but well coached and alot of good solid talent.

I just don't get it. Westfield is losing virtually all of their starters from last year. Why is everyone so high on them this year? Chantilly and Oakton will be the cream of the crop in the Concorde this year.

You must be new here.

Westfield loses most of their team every year. That's the old LB model from the 90's. Get entire classes to play with each other and move the next one up. The centreville model is the play 11 guys both ways for 3 years than have to reset. Westfield will never need to rebuild in terms of being at least a contender for the region. When the pieces are right they will make their runs for more.

I love these people from other areas who come here and bad mouth or reflect on how much better things were "back home".

OK Ohioboy how do you know the Coaching is better in Ohio? The gene pool as you put it is better? Really? explain

Hommer,
Many of the coaches in Ohio bounce back and forth betweeen HS jobs and small colleges. The coaching staffs are much larger and almost all of the coaches played college football. Also, the coaches have much more experience. A lot of the coaches in NOVA are very young.
Ohio is generally one of the top 5 states in terms of Div 1 football recruits. The players there are generally bigger and faster than the average football player in NOVA. I guess, since I've seen both groups, I made an educated comment about what someone else had witnessed. Sorry to share my opinion and make you get defensive!!

according to Rivals in 2011 ohio had 55,027 high school football players, virginia had 25,651. Easy to see why ohio has more d-1 players. more to choose from, Also VA has about 3 or 4 large pockets of good D-1 talent Hampton Roads, Richmond Metro and Nova. Ohio is more spread across the state.

Ohio's population was 11,544,951 in 2011, VA pop 8,096,604 in 2011. more people to choose from more D-1 players. nothing to do with gene pool other than the pure numbers.Ohio has more HS football tradition however the VA HS programs oscar Smith, phoebus, hampton westfield, Robinson, and others are on par with Ohio. Not sure Ohio Boy has resume history on va coached and ohio coaches but he is entitled to his opinion, "every body has one"

Not Defensive just looking for reasoning behind your opinion. I am not sure what Virginia High School staffs you are familiar with. If you look at the Concorde District staffs I think you will find exactly what you describe about the Ohio staffs. Well, except the Coaches bouncing back and forth between High School and College staffs. We prefer to have stable Coaches who want to be here, and who stay and develop kids and programs; not Coaches who try and fail at the College level and then come back to the High School level bitter and and feeling stuck and putting in time until the next College opportunity comes along.

But if that is what you consider superior good for you! You can keep it.

Westfield has been able to do that in the past I am not so sure that may be the case this year. I do not see the talent there like in years past, I think re districting maybe starting to take its toll. We will see soon, they have an All Star Coaching staff and they will maximize what talent they have. I see Westfield in the playoffs, I do not see them winning the Region.

I don't know if I would even go that far, and it would be pretty hard to quantify. I would say that there would be no team in VA favored in a game against a team like Cleveland St. Ignatius (then again, publics and privates play in the same divisions in Ohio).

OH has good high school FB, but you don't see a lot of SEC recruiters there. That's because much of the talent is in the SE, from the 757 east and to the south. Look at NFL drafts over time, look at the SEC's dominance in polls and on the field. In the past 20 years, the balance of power shifted to Miami and then more generally to the SEC. For example, since 1998, 5 diff SEC teams have won the mystical title--Tenn, Fla, Aub, Ala, and LSU. Prospects for a 7th straight this year look pretty good. Maybe Urban can do something now that he is back home but the depth is in the SE, surely not in OH and the MW.

Who gives a fuck about Ohio? Um, it's one of the biggest football hotbeds in the United States and has been for close to a century and it's also home to tOSU, arguably the most high-profile football program in the country. It's also the cradle of coaches: Urban Meyer, Bob Stoops, Mark Stoops, Les Miles, Bo Pelini, Gary Pinkel, Nick Saban, Woody Hayes, Bo Schembechler, Ara Parseghian, Don Shula, Chuck Noll, Jon Gruden - all Ohioans. That's why people give a fuck about Ohio ("or some shit...").

Westfield hosts Dematha 8/17/12, Dematha plays in the ultra strong WAC conference and will aslo show what Westfield has this year.

My son played for Coach Lewis. He watched a 2 a day that was going on this week. He told me no wonder they suck their 2 a days are practices. That under Coach Lewis they were for conditioning(duh like they should be). Especially the first week. Not now. They are up there running plays and have already decided who is going to play where. Not sure if they will have any good players this year or not. Don't follow them after he graduated. But if you don't know what a 2 a day is for than you shouldn't be coaching.

I will talk to him about his lack of knowledge as we drive to his D1 college tomorrow where he plays football on a scholarship that Coach Lewis helped him get. Thank God he didn't need to know anything about football to get it.

Obviously you did not see how several schools used there green days --I know a few schools really took advantage this spring summer and appear to be in football shape already. Green days started in the spring by the way. and your son plays Div 1AA aka FCS football he is pretty good though.don't worry Edison will be descent this year. I know Stonebridge, south county, Robinson and Lake braddock took advatage of theirs and are ready to go. These teams realize now week 1 is too late when you no longer have to wait.Yorktown is also well conditioned from so much 7 on 7 but not sure they did much football contact with the helmet and shoulder pad work like the other 4 aboveh did which has them closer to actual football condition for the contact aspect of football as well as the active running. back in my day we ran lots of gassers/wind sprints week 1 and 2.

I am a Chantilly fan and to keep it real with the starters in it was chantilly 14 south county 7. We (tilly) looked good running the ball early, we also had 3 turnovers when our starters were in.Romine threw 1 pick and we fumbled twice. SOCO took a while to get warmed up it seemed. I believe we will be good and that young south county team will probably be good by mid season. Our back ups added two TD's against South County's backups. I also want to keep it real and not get too excited but with no kickoffs and punt returns not sure how good either teams special teams will be. That could be a difference also. think we will be in the mix in the concorde this year.

The Henderson brothers did not follow the rules when transferring to Lake Braddock. Daddy Henderson moved his kids there with the understanding that he would be given a teaching job. When no teaching job was available, Henderson threatened to move his kids to a private school unless he got a job. Poythress told LB administration that if Henderson didn't get a job, Caleb was gone. Eric Henderson was quietly hired as LB Dean of Students during the summer. He got his job, now his sons will stay at LB. Football corrupts.

While still living in the West Potomac area, Henderson moves his kids to LB in March, then moves to a house in Burke in June. Star players get to pick their schools?? Poythress is a liar when he says Daddy Henderson was just looking for a job and the kids just happened to come with the dad. Poythress doesn't like Daddy Henderson but chose to take Daddy and his cronies from WP to keep Caleb at LB. Telling the truth is not hate.

Keep your eye on Jefferson in the Liberty District this year. They have close to 30 returning seniors.

Henderson kids, blah blah blah, some rumour I heard in a meeting third hand about hendo, blah blah, i'm a grown up who anonymously writes about teenage boys, blah blah.

Even if what you write is true. Why would you dilute it by putting it on a website that is 10% fact? haha

When I know something concrete I don't hide I make sure things get taken care of and I don't have to act like a 4 yr old with a computer. :)

So keep wrongfully slandering people and I'm sure your team will keep losing because all the time you put into beating people with false information you could be fixing your horrible version of rotation cover 3.

Former Lake braddock all region DB Greg Jones is making the most of his preferred walk on opportunity at Va tech.. Multiple sources are reporting that jones is really making plays at the hokies preseason practices. Hokies coaches have really been impressed with the freshman safety. Jones was without a doubt the best atlete on lake braddocks team last year, but was a bit of a late bloomer. I predict he will ear a scholarship before his hokies career is over.

Stone Bridge has their best team in years and D5 is down this year, which means they will dominate. They have a D1 QB who I imagine will play like one this year, and arguably the best defensive football player in the state.

Henderson update:
While tailing Henderson today, he made an out of the ordinary stop at what appeared to be a petroleum replenishment station. After sticking some sort of device into the car he was driving (probably not his, by the way. I'll need to run a make on the plate.) he waited about 10 minutes. He then proceeded to suspiciously REMOVE said device from his car and drive away.

Through excellent detective work, I've picked up a pattern of behavior - he did the exact same thing a week ago. more to follow...

While following Henderson up and down the grocery aisles with his wife I noticed that I was not the only interestsed party. As he grabbed a box of triscuits (I think low fat) I noticed several very sad and lonely men were also in pursuit of this party snacker.

I proceeded to intercept and communicate with the other gentlemen in tail and learned that we all share a similar story. We have lost touch with family and friends in the name of "keeping the playing field level" for a bunch of people who don't even appreciate us. We are also very illogically vindictive and have barbie collections but I figure that's just coincidence.

After sliding back into hot pursuit Henderson purchased a pack of Klondike bars which then had to be put into a different type of bag so as to keep them cold for the travels home... which of course I will be along for...

stay tuned. If I can beat him home I will give you a report on his mail. Yesterday it was full of coupons and suspiciously did not contain one menu for any sort of asian take out...

Word on the street - Daddy Hendo is at it again, trying to mislead folks. The coaching staff at Braddock is supposed to all wear the same shorts. He has been seen in black, west potomac blue, green and light blue on different occasions while supposedly coaching LB kids. He is sending mixed signals, do not trust him. Wonder if Poythree knows about this? It’s tough, but I manage stay one step ahead of him in order to report the truth. Rules must be followed and remember, trust no one. More later.

I am currently behind the Henderson vehicle (it has 4 wheels, 2 on each side and the left front wheel is a tad bit low as I always check his tire pressure when he's at extended red lights) and I swear he had his blinkers on for 3 stop lights before realizing and turned them off. Was he going somewhere and changed his mind, is he on to me, is he doing it to cause me to ponder all this... The man is either a genius or a baffoon because there can be no gray area.

Enough already! We all know Henderson is a cheater, he got fired from WP by FCPS and winning is everything LB hired him as DC. Let it Go!

On with the season

Well actually to be clear Henderson is not the cheater. Dale Eaton is. His juvinile tricks and homo hard on for Henderson worked in the fact that Henderson was fired from coaching. But, Eaton had the plan to get that fool Everett in the WP job and use Henderson's QB kid to win. But all those plans were messed up when Henderson moved his family to Lake Braddock which is a much better school for academics and a hell of a team. So thats when Eaton scrambled and he was desperite and got the principles secretary fired for her giving him information on the kids transfer, because Eaton was trying to prove that rules were not being followed and he knew that Henderson was taking his kids from the WP program. And Eaton also pissed off the high up administration Bill Curren and the cluster person. That is why Everett did not get the job. So, in the end - Henderson and his kids are in a better place. And Dale Eaton is still a pathetic excuse whose plans were all messed up by his stupidity. And not to mention the mess that the WP program is in now. Our community is in an uproar and we know that Eaton was behind it all. Enjoy the season if you can because it will be tough for us in the WP community and that is not fair.

While following Henderson across county lines, I kept being cut off by another car in chase that had the license plate "ENOUGH". This particular car forced me off the road and I was unable to observe what Henderson picked up at Petsmart.

I did notice before being bumped from my obsession that this car had a multitude of know it all, yet factually wrong bumper stickers.

I took a mental snap shot and will now see if I can recall them.

"I Recycle because it stimulates hair growth"

"If you were aborted most people hate you"

"the flying spaghetti monster reads minds, you're all screwed"

"People with self respect always should paint someone a cheater with a broad brush based only on personal vendettas".

"If you pick your nose God will eat your first born"

"When people are fired by an administrator and then resolved of all accusations by the county that means they were fired by FCPS and that they are still working for them is evidence that can be overlooked. so friends of that administrator should go online anonymously and hope people believe how matter of fact they are spreading lies for self preservation as their jobs were the only ones truly at risk."

"Vote or die"

"If evolution is real why are there Monkey's still?"

There were a few longer ones but my memory is only so good.
Now I have to get my car back on the road and find what ol Henderson is up to now. My guess is something sinister relating a routine dental cleaning or pizza.

I am hoping to hear more from Enough. I think there is more than meets the bumper sticker with that one! I also believe that ENOUGH only applies to others and we haven't heard the last from our friend with all the fake answers!

It's hard enough reporting on everything Henderson does when you have guys too lazy to actually make it a full time job just galavanting around making things up.

Looks like enough just made the 'tail' list. Enough needs to realize there's only one thing more important that FCPS football - making sure the playing field's level. By the way, I am pretty sure that Hendo's contract wasn't renewed by the WP administration (not FCPS). If FCPS fired him, how could he have a job at LB?? Think, if only just a little.

FYI, while tailing Henderson today, I followed him into the bathroom. I'm guessing he is trying to 'go green' by conserving water.
1 - He didn't flush. Through the principles of detection, I've determined he had chipotle for lunch.
2 - He didn't wash his hands.

Side note, the district reaignments are available and no one is going to complain that Stone Bridge is out of the Fairfax districts and back in Loudoun where they belong.

Now that all the pre season games are over, and training camp is wrapping up for everyone in the area, which teams have emerged as real contenders, and pretenders? All spring and summer the chatter on these boards claimed that Lake Braddock, Centreville and Fairfax were going to be the best teams in 2012.

Real simple: in D6 Lake Braddock and the Concorde District teams (Centreville, Westfield, Oakton, Chantilly & Robinson) minus Herndon. Fairfax and TC Williams will sneak in to the playoffs and be first round playoff losers.

In D5 Stone Bridge, Hayfield, South County, Madison, will be the top rated with a bunch of next level teams.

Burns is the most over hyped player I have ever seen. I have seen him in person twice and on tape multiple times including this years Hayfield scrimmage. He has all the tools, blows away the eye test; BUT when the lights are on and the game is being played he has not gotten it done.

Maybe he can show what everyone else sees in him this year. My guess is he will go to Stanford and will never see the field.

Burns is terrible come game time, but is it all him or are the players around him no help SB seems to have no o-line to speak of no running game and no receivers worth mentioning so I ask is Burns really that bad or does his team make him look worse than he really is because he sure does nothing to win games as the team stud in fact he loses games with his bad play just look at the Chantilly game last year all those interceptions were on him same with the SoCo game their coach cant ask him to carry a team

Stone Bridge hasn't lost more than 3 games in a season ever. I highly doubt his supporting cast is weak. They had a great oline last year, after week 2, all they did was run the ball and were successful at it.

first of all Dickweed (no disrespect), this is not Mr Jones. secondly, see stats from Wash post Hokies journal http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/hokies-journal/post/rb-trey-edmunds-makes-his-case-to-play-now-at-virginia-techs-last-open-scrimmage/2012/08/23/43a00e40-ecbc-11e1-a80b-9f898562d010_blog.html jones led the D in tacles in the last open scrimmage and also articles on the hokies subscriber sites specifically mention how well Jones is doing. unfortunately they ask we not re post member information, Although I am sure even reading it you would still doubt it. HS Football Fans,

the season is upon us. A lot of great games highlighted by Centreville-Lake Braddock this week. Below are the spreads for week one. Usually the most inaccurate as teams will show their true colors in the next couple of days.

The 5 big ones in the Concorde and Lake Braddock will compete for the region. I give a slight edge to Chantilly who returns most of their pieces from last year with a chip on their shoulder after an embarrasing district display. Should be very interesting!

Thursday
Herndon @ Langley (-6.0)
Jefferson (-14.0) @ Falls Church
Lee (-3.0) @ Marshall
Mclean (-6.0) @ Washington-Lee
South Lakes @ Westfield (-35.0)
Stuart @ George Mason EVEN
WT Woodson @ Chantilly (-31.0)
Wakefield @ TC Williams (-7.0)
West Potomac @ Mount Vernon (-2.5)
West Springfield (-10.0) @ Edison

Friday
Annandale @ Fairfax (-6.0)
Lake Braddock (-8.5) @ Centreville
Oakton (-10.0) @ Madison
Robinson @ Stone Bridge (-6.5)
South County @ Hayfield (-2.5)

Watched the Braddock game. Final Score Centreville 28 - 27 Lake Braddock.

Henderson threw a couple picks but he looked alright. Their offensive line on the other hand looked completely terrible. Braddock couldn't get their run game going and their line rarely gave Henderson more than 1 - 2 seconds to throw the ball.
