R.I.P. Ernest Borgnine

Ernest Borgnine, the beefy screen star known for blustery, often villainous roles, but who won the best-actor Oscar for playing against type as a lovesick butcher in "Marty" in 1955, died Sunday. He was 95.

This is really odd, I can't find any reference to his living in Fairfax County. He died in Los Angeles. I liked him in Airwolf.

He was 95, so obviously I suspect foul play. The family needs to demand a full rape exam.

I am pretty sure he was the voice of "mermaid man" in Spongebob. he was known more for the 1970's disaster movies.

I'll always associate Borgnine as LTC Quinton McHale in "McHale's Navy", a great 60's sitcom.

Plus I am from New Haven, CT and so was Borgnine, well actually North Haven but the differnce is like Alexandria and Arlington.

He and Lee Marvin made this great macho film called "Emperor of the North".

@Priapus: That was a great flick.

Unmentioned is his role as the badass-boss in Willard (1971), not that fucked up remake of 2003---why the fuck do they make remakes of classic films, I've seen very few remakes that were better than the originals.

Yes! Airwolf. What a great show. I am sure Hawke is watching Santini Air for him.
