I made the dumb mistake of heading to the beach on one of the hottest days of the summer. I-95 and 64 were hellish to say the least; the roads were flooded with out-of-state drivers. For some reason almost every other car had an Ohio plate.

Chincoteague sucks ass. I went there a couple years ago. Talk about lame.

traffic on I-95 and I-64 are always a mess in the summertime. Beach rentals run Saturday to Saturday so EVERYONE leaves early Saturday morning to check in

Va Beach has cleaned up - it is no longer a shithole - complete family scene, well lit, secure, lots of music and surfing events, outdoor concerts, great restaurants, area leading to the beach was rebuilt upscale. everyone rides bikes - boardwalk railing covered with bikes on concert nights, looks like Myrtle Beach but closer and way better - fewer rednecks, no monster trucks cruising like in Myrtle, lots of NOVA, Williamsburg and Chesapeake types.

Yeah, just stay north of 40th Street in Virginia Beach and you'll be a good distance away from the commercial areas. My buddy has a place on 114th Street and it's really quiet and peaceful up there...

I came back from North Carolina Saturday and it wasnt too bad.....other than the fucktards from New Jersey and New York thinking they were in New Jersey and New York.

gone. military wierdos gone. henna tattoo places eradicated. riff raff gone. it is a nice clean safe family place - think strolling groups eating ice cream cones. draws a lot of college age to music and sports events. there is a dedicated bike lane on the boardwalk and you can rent multi person carts with pedals - families rent them - fits baby to grandma - it is hillarious watching some families trying to pedal together. individual bikers ring their bells and pass - good wholesome fun.

Dont VA beach got all them niggs and spics. Them gang type people out there.

A shithole? Lol, I wonder what your standards are. VA Beach is great. I've gone there since the 80s, and have had family down there throughout the 60s onward, and I've never seen a problem with it. It's a fun beach.

Worst yet, don't drive on I-95 on the weekend. We've headed back from Florida multiple times where we ended up in VA on a Saturday or Sunday evening, and the cars are backed up nearly down to Richmond heading northward. Make it a weekday evening and it's a whole lot better, but you can still run into traffic.

Agree, It is a bitch, Not worth it is an understatement.

Chincoteague Sucks. Those mosquitoes can carry away a small child. Any houses, condos, cottages and hotels are nowhere near the beach. All food, drinks and life itself is on a sweaty little island with no breeze but LOTS of bugs. The only bar closes at 11:00. The beach itself is nice and peaceful in the off-season, but the only beach access is a small parking lot, so the beach there is packed in the summer. Plus, it's 45 minutes past Ocean City. Fuck that dump.
Va.beach has done a complete 180 in the last 5-7 years. The East Coast Surfing Championship threatened to move south to. N.C. if the place wasn't cleaned up. With the threat of loosing millions of $$$, and world wide recognition, the city council (or whateverthefuck they have) worked with businesses and property owners to clean the place up. If the drive there and back wasn't such a pain in the ass, we might go back.

So... my friends and I decide to take a trip to VA BEACH before we start school. (We booked through travelocity... another mistake). This hotel was awful the moment we stepped in. When we go to check in, my friend gives them her name and ID. The manager comes out and states that she is not 21 (we were all 20 at the time). He then asks us for all four of our IDs so he can make copies of them. Then he sends a young girl (looked to be no older than 15) out to tell us that we are too young to book a hotel. The manager then calls her into the back room to speak with her. The girl then comes back out to say that we have to give them a $100 deposit if we want to stay there. Not having anywhere else to stay we all pitch in the $100.

We get shown to our room that is supposed to be a "double suite with a sofa-bed" and its a 1 bedroom, hole in the wall... The paint was chipping off the walls, the room smelled moldy, on a scale of 1-10 for cleanliness I would give it a 3. Of course i was the one to sleep on the sofa-bed, I try to pull ot out and I get no where... Then we hear a knock on the door... it was one of the guys from the office. He says "I have to search the room for a game-boy..." We let him in, and he goes all through our room, he successfully was able to pull out the bed... Then he leaves.

And the bathroom.... the toilet did not work properly, and it clogged after the second use. We got our $100 back , but we should have just went somewhere else. I guess this is a nice hotel to stay at if you don't plan on being in it....

That's what keeps it from being overrun with knuckleheads. But you're right. If you're looking for nightclubs move along. If you want to get away from folks, come on down. Some better places nearby other than Chink proper.

Surfing at VA Beach is a joke. Lived and surfed there for a long time. Never understood why they even bother with that event. They should have moved it to the OBX, OC, NJ, Sebastian, anywhere other than VAB long ago.

I seen on the internet over 500 sex offenders live in virginia beach. Sounds like a great place to bring the family.
