FCPD breaking the law!
Posted by: Lights on with wipers ()
Date: May 12, 2008 01:10PM

I guess the FCPD didn't get the memo on the law passed a couple of years ago pertaining to headlights on when using wipers.

Of the zillion cops I passed today, I'd say 50% did not have their lights on.

Or maybe the law doesn't pertain to the fuzz.

just for everyones info...the headlights required with windshield wipers is only a secondary offense. meaning that you cannot be pulled over for that violation only.

not justifying them not being on...just adding some more info....

And they also aren't required to be on when the wipers are on "intermittent"

You should've pulled them over and do a citizens arrest.

Yeah, I know, too dated and probably lost on most here, but just as goofy as most of the authority-hating posters here..

Like Gomer when he tried to "arrest" Barney for making a u-turn...citizen's arrest! citizen's arrest! citizen's arrest!!!

Here it is......Citizen's Arrest, Citizen's Arrest! Gomer reminds me of many FU posters...

Sorry, I dated myself, I guess in the young lingo it would be the "popo'.

No matter what you call them, why aren't their fucking headlights on?

Sure... like you respect the law...if it bothered you that much and it makes you feel better about yourself. Call the police station and complain to their supervisor.

So in other words, they were driving like just about every person I saw today driving a vehicle that wasn't equipped with daytime running lamps. Those guys get in and out of their cars extremely frequently so I'm sure it's easy to forget from time to time.

I'll bet you are the type of person who gets stopped for speeding (henceforth the axe you are grinding here) and then proclaims, "but everyone else was doing it! I was just keeping up with traffic!"

You can't have it both ways.

I swear, some of you guys remind me of the class tattle tale in elementary school....."oooohhhhh, I'm telling!!!" And then you have to run to this website because you just can't wait to share your little story.

this is one of the weaker anti-police complaints we've had on here in a while.

1. Who really cares anyway?
2. Who is going to pull them over to ticket them?
3. They are trained to drive fast in severe conditions, so driving at a normal speed without lights on, during the day, is perfectly safe.
4. Who really cares anyway?

Don't worry, a new whiny anti-police thread or message will pop up in a day or so. It always does, without fail.

Actually, the law says that you can only be CHARGED if the officer had another reason to stop you. Based on my interpretation, that does not preclude the officer from stopping you to give you a warning for violating this law. (In other words, I disagree, the officer CAN pull you over for this violation only -- but you can't be charged unless there was another justification for the stop.)
