Well drilling recommendation?

Hi,

I"m looking to have a second well drilled in Fairfax Station. Does anyone have any recommendations on companies to hire for this? Spoke to Bell Pump & Well and got a really shady feeling from the person that came out to inspect the property. Thanks in advance!

Try Valley Drilling. They've been in business for many years.

Curtis Brothers have been in the Water Well Drilling business for years and will give you a free estimate.

These people are good but expensive. This isn't really something you want to skimp on though.

I've also heard good things about NOVA Drilling.

All the companies listed are qualified to do well installation. The major issue with well drilling is the geology where you live. There is great variation in well yields across Fairfax County. For example, in Great Falls/McLean you may only need go 200 - 400 feet for decent yield, while in Centreville you can drill 1000+ feet and get nothing. And you will have to pay in either case.

Good Luck.

I used bell pump and well for an old well in Herndon. They really responded fast to emails/calls, inspected the well the very next morning after my call, and sent me an estimate on a contract that same morning. They came in near the low end of what I was expecting from a range given by a general contractor acquaintance of mine.

Bell Pump and Well is nothing but an A+ contractor. We have never had one problem with their service or the fees they charge. We have used them for over 40 years, first the dad then the son - thank god the apple didn't fall far from that tree.
If you had a problem with them you better look in the mirror!!!

I used Bell Pump for a pressure tank replacement. The price was fair and I would use them again.

BTW, What was the estimate for the new well?

When they invoiced, they actually cut the price down considerably below their initial estimate (more than 25%). Concur with Fairfax Native.

I can also vouch for Bell -- great firm, good pricing, hard workers. Old Mrs. Bell's son can dig a hole faster than anyone I've ever seen.

That said, I don't think the County will allow a second operating well on the property -- I believe you will have to have the first one disabled before the inspection will pass.
