What apartment complexes are the best in fairfax? This place www.metreston.com is pretty nice except it is far from the city and $$. What about the place you live?

I would avoid apartment complexes in Hybla Valley, Herndon, Oakton and Annadale. These are areas with a lot of gangs. Try Mclean, Fairfax City, Falls Church, Reston and Tysons Corners.

if you go to live in Hybla Valley or Herndon, be sure to learn some spanish because you will need it. oh... body armor is very helpful too.

There are several nice apartment complexes near Fairfax Corner. Can't remember their names but that area is very nice.

I'm a former tenant of The Reserve at Fairfax Corner. I wrote a lengthy review on aptratings.com if interested. Most apartments in the Fair Lakes area are pretty nice, but you're going to pay out the ass for the location.

Hybla Valley does have an plethora of african american and hispanic people, but it is not like fucking southeast. But, I would never live there, the complex use to be called Groveton Gardens, but now they have tried to re-name it something like "Arbor on the Green" or some bullshit. Just make sure you are not out jogging or walking you will most likely be asked if you would turn over your cell phone and all moneyzzzzzzz.

STAY AWAY FROM ALL APARTMENTS OFF BUCKMAN RD and JANNA LEE!!!!

Everytime there is a robbery, the description is always as follows: African America (sometimes hispanic), 20-25, 5'11 - 6ft. They always find the the waste of space in one of those shitty apartments in JANNA LEE!!

The Rt 1 south corridor has always been a shithole, spurning trash of every variety. Rt 1 has been likened to the digestive system in that Alexandria being on top represents a mixture of good and bad but heading south just gets worse and worse as you travel south down the shit lined large intestine of Richmond Highway all the way to the sphincter of Fort Belvoir that dumps right into the Prince William County toilet bowl called Woodbridge. Beyond that the Rt 1 sewage system goes on deeper into Fredericksburg, Richmond and shit just gets thicker and nastier.

In Fairfax County, like all continents and countries, the better parts are up north!

I live in Post Forest right ner Fairfax Corner and I loooove it here! It's gated, secure, quiet, clean,, and friendly. The staff is always on top of maintinence issues and take pride in their great customer service. The apartments are also beautiful and large.

The apartments at the Met in Reston are very expensive. They are aimed at top dollar people in Reston. Did you notice they have their own cafe and movie theather.

theres definitely a rack of nice apartment/condo complexes in fairfax but be prepared to get raped (ripped off)

you're throwing money out the door on condo fees, better to get a townhouse or single family

I'm a former tenant of Camden Fair Lakes and I can't stress enough to stay away from that place. The management is awful, maintenance is terrible, and it's becoming completely unsafe (it's not obvious on a first glance but trust me on this). There are other apartments in Fair Lakes that are much better manged, more reasonable priced.

What are the other apartments?

The new apartments by Pan Am near the Vienna Metro. They were going to be condos but they converted them into upscale apartments.

Also, try the new place at Merrifield. Also upscale apartments with a large gym and restaurants on the ground floor.

Blessed are the murderous.

fair lakes is great, you pay more in condo fees but your also not passing by foot tall grass in the medians on the way to your house...the landscape has alot to do with the feeling you get as you approach your home, for most.

My first impressions of the apartment complex were positive but looks are deceiving. The location is perhaps the biggest positive as it is adjacent to several nice dining and shopping locations. The positive impressions stop there. The walls are paper thin, the construction is very poor, and the management company will not address any issues you bring to their attention. Even if you call corporate you can not get any action. For example, the tenant above mine was excessively loud and would bang the floor, so much so that he broke the light fixture in the entry way. After dozens of complaints the problem has not stopped. Another example, recently I brought a dog to live in this "Pet Friendly" apartment. The same day I brought her in I left her for 1 hour to see how she'd do. She did make loud noises, but during the time I was gone a tenant decided to leave a threatening letter on the door telling me in not so many words to get rid of the dog or else. Management issued a noise violation and has not even come close to resolving the threatening letter issue. I find it appauling that the management would attempt to not let the police get involved, and in fact use a noise violation to intimidate me to not continue to pursue this issue. In short, I WOULD NOT RECOMEND CAMDEN FAIRFAX CORNER TO ANYONE!!

I live at Camden Fairfax Corner and find it to be nice. Yes, I sometimes hear my upstairs neighbor, but I've heard that at every apartment complex I've been in. Regarding maintenance, everything I needed fixed was fixed quickly. There was one time where they didn't have the part. They were able to get it overnighted and fixed the next day.

Try Lincoln at Fair Oaks. I looked there and found the price and size reasonable. Nice and quaint. Management was nice. I hated Camden. The manager was a $#%& and I was not able to view the model that was coming available. They showed me a model apartment and asked me toforward visualize a wall here a door there. Crazy! I ended up finding a condo on craigslist though and am happy. Good luck.

You are referring to The Rotunda, right? Haven't heard about that place in years, although my best guess is that it is full of elderly people.

Go to Arlington or Falls Church since one of your criteria is proximity to the city.

Although a lot of Tysons is still prohibitively expensive for the atmosphere it has, McLean commons, which is actually in Tysons is a really good deal for 2bedroom and townhouses that are very spacious. There seems to be some new ones coming with Avalon Park Crest in Tysons and I think some apartments closer to Route 7 are opening up.

I think in Arlington the best deal is Potomac Towers, its much more affordable than the ones directly in the city (its on rt 29) and they just finished a renovation to the common areas. A friend of mine lived there for 2 years and saved hundreds per month vs her friends.

If I had the extra cash to blow, this would be the place to live. It's just way too expensive, but fucking nice!

Reston Town Center is the best area. Right next to Met is two condo buildings where you can find apts at much better deals. You will gain weight if you live in that area; see that a lot.

Archstone Apartments near Wegmans.

In my experience those managed by Bozzuto are pretty good, they have properties all over the place.

Dulles Greene is nice, If you want your tires slashed. You want to talk about a nice place that went to shit..Dulles Greene is the answer.

i live right there. no mexicans for at least half a mile in any direction. pretty nice that way!

I hear Janna Lee and Aududon Ave. in Mt. Vernon are nice!!!! Friendliest neighbors anywhere in the county!

Dumbass, Oakton is really nice, very safe... No gang activity! Hilarious to put it in with those other places! Or... Wait... Are you discouraging people from moving here because you don't want to share the awesomeness?

Any section 8 luxury condo will be nice. You cant beat it sign up today. You will find once you move in with your five kids and five baby daddys you will soon have the building to yourself.

How much are you willing to spend?
Do you want to be near public transit and if so is bus okay verses metro? I guess these would be big factors in what I recommend. If you plan to drive everywhere I wouldn't recommend moving near a metro station. If you plan to use public transit which is a great option then I would move close to a metro station if you can afford to.

Don't move into anything managed by Grady Management they are horrible.

Also you might want to consider renting from an individual rather than in a complex.

If you want to live with nice white people in a nice area, expect to pay 1.5x what the minorities pay.

If you want the above scenario with metro access to either Vienna or Dunn Lording pay 2x

Camden Fairfax Corners is a dump, has always been a dump, and will continue to be a dump as long as that idiot Terry is the manager. I periodically look at their reviews even after having left years ago just see if things have gotten better and I read the exact same complaints. I will say it again, if you have read their reviews and still move in you are a fool and deserve the misery heading your way.
