Casa Italia Restaurant in the old Cafe Italia /Vinnies location on Main Street

Just found out that a new restaurant opened in the old Cafe Italia / Vinnies location 10515 Main Street. They opened Memorial Day weekend. Stopped by for dinner and it was great! Veal Marsala, Veal piccata, chicken Parmesan, calamari, house chianti were all good. Even the bread and pasta were great. On Wednesdays they even give a free homemade dessert. We had bread pudding. Good place to try.

I am not an owner. I post reviews all the time on tripadvisor and yelp. Excuse me for trying to let people in the area know about this place that just opened. We found out by accident with the bomb scare at the court house today. Otherwise we would not have known.

Stop lying. Who else starts a review by telling when they opened? Who cares about that. Also if you ate all you described, bread pudding, pasta and free deserts you must be fat.

If the place has been open for a while, and I see no cars in the lot, I might wonder if it is any good. Since I know it is new, I would guess that it was not crowded because not many people know it was there yet.

We used to go to a great popular place in our home state. Always crowded. We went there while visiting and it was practically empty. Found out later they had many health code violations and were no longer any food. The parking lot tells the story sometimes.

That's not how I read that subject line, holmes...to me that says it USED to be called Vinnie's and before that it USED to be called Cafe Italia...

And, Sherlock, in the subject line, it is now called what?

Can you not distinguish between Casa Italia and Cafe Italia?

And, by the way, to the OP, you are clearly shilling the place for some reason. As another pointed out, it is highly unlikely that you experienced, in one visit:

"Veal Marsala, Veal piccata, chicken Parmesan, calamari, house chianti were all good. Even the bread and pasta were great. On Wednesdays they even give a free homemade dessert."

Three entrees, an appetizer, wine, bread course, pasta (entree or "side"?). Lucky for you it was a Wednesday, otherwise you would not be able to shill the dessert menu as well...

Good luck to the newly opened Casa Italia, you will need it if you have to resort to shilling the place on FFXU!

I guess you have never had friends go out to dinner with you. WE enjoyed these entrees, not just one person but a group of friends. I hope you get some friends as you must be a loner to have such a negative view. I feel sorry for you.

Are there real Italians running the place or are they Spanish or South Asian or Eastern European?

It was actually pretty good. Not the best, but something I would diffently come back to. I had spaggiti cuz I was in the mood. The meatballs were very good and fantastic, the pasta was good and so was the sauce, but overall, it was better then average. Its weird because it seems like it wouldnt have good food because when I went there was no one there, but it does. just like courtside thai. I think when they get more customers it wkll become a much better place

I know the owners.

Good people - own another restaurant in Ballston that does well.

They use good products and do their best to put a good meal on the plate.

Its nice to have a non-chain restaurant.

Instead of negative posts, how about giving these folks a chance? You may not be disapointed.

"You may not be disapointed."

But I may be disappointed, and it is easier to criticize what I don't know.

Ate there once when it was Vinnie's. Man did it suck!

I have nothing against giving a new place a try as long as it's not the old Vinnie's with a newa namea.

Indeed, I work nearby and have been afraid to try Casa Italia Fairfax because of Vinnie's awful reputation, which will be a challenge for the restaurant to shake. I applaud those brave ones who have tried the new fare and thank you for sharing your experiences. To shake the Vinnie’s baggage, Casa Italia should add to the outside a few but carefully thought-out details. For example, adding draping plants onto the perimeter of the rooftop (something native to this area of Virginia please so we don’t have to hate on Casa Italia for generating the next ecosystem battle) would signal to passersby that, “Hey! That’s NOT Vinnie's!" Maybe some sort of landscaping in front, like a rock garden and waterfall, shrubbery and flowers? I’ve got to say, when I go, it will not be because of the brilliant exterior design--it’s one of the ugliest buildings in this part of Fairfax, and nothing is covering it up!

I might be mistaken, but believe at one point it was called the Spaghetti Tree (late '70s).
