Police Investigate Fatal Stabbing

McLean Police District – Police responded to 1761 Old Meadow Rd, Suite 100 shortly before 9:30 this morning for a reported stabbing. The facility at that address is operated by Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services (PRS) and provides day support services for adults with mental illness. The Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board contracts with PRS to provide these services.

Arriving officers were met by staff members who led them to the 57-year-old victim. Rescue was called in immediately. The victim, Grady Alexander Vickers of Falls Church, was transported to a local hospital and was pronounced dead a short time later.

Officers were also led to the 24-year-old suspect who had remained on the scene. The initial investigation determined that the victim and suspect are both clients at PRS. They encountered each other outside the facility. Detectives are trying to determine the exact nature of the encounter. At some point, the victim was allegedly stabbed in the upper body by the suspect. Police charged Mark Shelor, 24, of 9791 Maple Trace Circle with murder.

The investigation continues.

Grady? Was he a black male? Does anyone have a picture of the victim? How long had he been at that place?

This calls for a good dose of sodium pentathol.

Put the rabid dog to sleep, before the disease spreads.

So they were both clients of this place which means they has mental health issues. If one of them said something, or took something the wrong way, why would this be a surprise?

Sucks for the victim. Assailant needs to be tried and gone for good.

ETA: 'Upper body knife wound' soiunds like he got a lung, or even maybe the heart.

I am sure more information will come out. It is noteworthy that the local news is not covering this much yet the corruption cases in DC lead the news day after day. WTF?

Great D.C. is the nation's crapital. I agree 100%. With 1.2 million residents, Fairfax should always be at the top of the news, especially for knife fights in parking lots near the "green zone of Mclean"

It was not just a knife fight; it was a murder in the morning on a weekday. That warrents the same amount of coverage as the DWI's, money laundering and corruption that the news coverage keeps repeating over and over again.

I can only guess he will plead insanity. Why would he have a weapon outside? I wonder what it was?

Didn't realize that Fairfax County has a facility where you can drop off liberals for daytime supervision. Great news!

He was not a black male. He was at the place for at least 10 years.

The altercation was possibly over money. Grady was stabbed in what looked like the left side of the body. It was a sharp knife-like object that Mark grabbed from the kitchen and stabbed Grady with.
