Re: Sunset Grille

I used to live in Annandale Virginia, off of Patriot Lane. I rented the basement of a townhouse there, while I worked for the Federal Government - 36 years all in all - retired in 2011.
I moved from place to place, over those years to escape the terrible traffic on I66, Route 7, Dulles Toll Road and the Beltway. You name it, I tried to avoid it! I worked in Mclean.
I joined the Washington Darts Association and played and competed in league darts around the Washington D.C., Virginia and Maryland areas from 1978 to 1994.
I used to go to a bar called the Annandale Inn, on Columbia Pike, in the mid 1980's, not far from my townhouse. It ended up being the Sunset Grill before it closed for good in 2012.
Anyone in this forum remember a fellow named Kevin Hayes? He was about 6' 1" tall, with a medium build.
He became the first player in NAODT history (NORTH AMERICAN OPEN DART TOURNAMENT) to achieve a Perfect 6-Dart 301 game. He did it twice (in 3 rounds) in the Singles event.
I believe he had a girl friend or wife named Rebecca Wysong, I'm not sure. I knew her by the name Becky. She was a short and plump lady with jet black hair.
Anyway, I used to go to this dive and practice my dart game, and observe Kevin play with the other players who chose to show up. The place had a small men's bathroom, and smelled like
General Patton's army used it during WWII, while they were busy defeating the Nazi's.
Kevin was not very sociable, he was direct and focused. But man, this dude could shoot some darts!
I wanted to get good at darts, so I decided to ask him if I could shoot a game with him.
"Sure" he said, as long as it is for "a beer or 2 bucks". I accepted his offer and played many a game with him, but never, ever won a match. But he sure did make me focus on the game and get rid of those psychological distractions, which plague the mind
of lots of dart players.
So I get to my point:
What really happened to Kevin? I was told that he was killed in a drug deal gone bad, in the 1980's. I also vaguely remember that he was a graduate of Fairfax High School, class of 1982, and a medical technician.
Anyone, please share your thoughts and memories of Kevin. He was a mystery dude to me. I never wanted to chit chat with him, just get better at darts.
I'm retired now, got lots of time to practice and take up the sword of exceptional darts that he exuded.
