gasoline tanker driver delivering to gas station in heavy rain... does the rain get into the underground tanks?

Let me start off by saying that I know very little about cars. :)

I get gas from the nearest gas station, which is about a mile from my house.
They always are within a couple of cents from the next closet station.

Anyway... I was getting gas a couple of weeks ago, during that real heavy
rain we got here... There was a gasoline tanker truck parked on the side
and the driver was refilling the underground tanks. He was about done and
I saw him put those big tubes away. However, he left the metal cover on the
ground open for a good two or three minutes while I was pumping gas into my
car.

Doesn't the water get into the underground tanks? If so, doesn't it eventually
make it into the gas that I put into my car? How bad is this for my car?

Thanks! :)

Yes rain does get in the tanks... It skims along to top of the gas and evaporates very quickly.

Gas is not pulled from the top of the tank.

Sorry, trolling again.

"trolling again"? What, do you need to reassure yourself by typing that over and over again, in a vain attempt to convince others you're not. You're like a little puppy starving for attention. I bet you need to be told by your girl (bf?) every five minutes that she loves you and your "BIG" cock!!!!LOL

Being insulted by a self described "pedophile" oh that hurts.

You are a dumb ass terd!!! If you notice, it is spelled incorrectly so as to look like your name (ergo, insinuating that you are a pedophile). God, for someone who thinks he know everything and has an answer for it as well, you are fucking clueless! Yeah, you are a genius, in an Asperger's kind of way!!!LOL

actually water is VERY Bad for GAS, because think about it H2O + high octane = combustable explosion, a ticking bomb in your gas tank becasue water is polar covalent, n it it it it i woiuld be careful if i were u

I wouldn't worry about the water...it will NOT mix with the gasoline, and the pump is equipped with filters/water separators.

However, if I see a tanker truck on the premises...I keep going to another station. Filling the underground tanks definitely stirs up the muck on the bottom of the tank...which may or may not get by the filters.

I used to do that as well.... until I realized that a gasoline truck could
have left just minutes before I drove it....

now I only get gas first thing in the morning... and only at the gas station
next to my office. the manager there told me the gasoline trucks only come
in the afternoons...

gas trucks come by 24-7. you would lose moeny if they only came by in teh afternoon. Imagine if UPS only drove trucks around in the afternoon.

I love how some people act like experts but spew crap that is just plain wrong. First, water is more dense than the hydrocarbons in gas, so the water will sink to the bottom of the tank, not float. Second, "H2O + high octane" will not explode or combust any worse than if the water were not present. In fact, water is a product of the combustion of hydrocarbons.
