Restaurants with good lobster?
Posted by: NOVA Girl ()

I'm looking for a restaurant to take my mom to for her birthday. She wants lobster tail. Not Red Lobster or Legal Seafood, and the place needs to be somewhat kid-friendly. (Ruth's Chris/Mortons too expensive.)

Ideas?

Go to a grocery store, pick one out and cook it at home.

"Kid friendly" and "high quality seafood" usually do not coexist in the restaurant world.

Try Outback. Two tail dinner for 25.99. Or they have a steak / tail combo

Giant will even do it for you. Likely better than most can at home since they have a good steam cabinet.

For a tasty one is Squire Rockwells or Sir Walter Raleigh. Delicious. First ones on 236, second on Gatehouse Rd. Great value

McDonald's in Maine serves a lobster roll a month out of the year.

Ah, yes, the good ol' days, when these restaurants were actually in operation... :)

Why has that Sir Walter Raleigh building sat empty for so many years? Seems like a prime location, especially with the Mosaic District brining more residents to the area.

Kid friendly? Why would you want to bring your kids to a resturant?
Please consider others. We're not spending money on dining out
just so our dining experience can be ruined by your brats.

Order your family a maine lobster bake- they come overnight via fedex. they're already put together, they will even send you the pot and instructions on how to cook. It's EASY and MUCH cheaper and quieter than trying to go out to eat. You can even let your kids run around the house while you enjoy your meal and dont have to disturb anyone else ;)

Sure you can drive 30 min. to the restaurant, find parking, wait another 15 min. to be seated, place your order, then wait another 20 min. for your food- or you can just cook it yourself at home whenever you want, no reservation needed!!! If you want lobster at 2am- cook it! I have LOL! I order from this outfit all the time and every meal has been HEAVENLY!

Just google around for maine lobster and you can find other places.

Or you could try the DC Wharf or Frank's in MD http://franksseafood.com/ if you insist on picking one up.

Giant and them work too, in a pinch!

O'Donnells is still around. Bish Thompsons's used to serve the best tail stuffed with crabmeat but they're gone. O'Donnells was right down the street from Bish Thompsons but they have moved. They have a website and they're in Bethesda.
Awesome!
In Virginia Vinnies used to serve a really good land and sea with humongous 16 to 20 ounce tails. They have moved to Fairfax perhaps someone can give a review.

It just seems wrong to put those guys in boiling water. Ouch. Can you imagine. Don't they scream too? Poor little guys.
