diabetologist/endocrinologist reccomendation?

Can anyone recommend a good diabetologist or endocrinologist in NoVa? I've been trying to contact Northern VA Endocrinologists but they don't even return phone calls. Guess business must be good..

Dr. Safa in Vienna. He is top-notch. What he lacks in warmth, he more than makes up for it in excellent medical care. I've seen him for my thyroid issues and referred my mom to him for her issues. My boss sees Dr. Safa to manage her newly-diagnosed diabetes.

He saw me through a thyroid issue during my pregnancy and ended up being a great advocate for me!

Keep trying with Northern VA Endocrinologists...very worth it once you get in there! I've seen several in the area and they are by far the most knowledgeable and nicest to work with. Downside is getting appointments, they book up pretty fast but can usually squeeze you in if there is an urgent need.

I can't recommend Dr. Suzanne Rogacz (N. VA Endocrinologists) more highly. I have been going to her for more than 10 years. She is straightforward and no-nonsense, but she listens and is very kind. She saved my life and my son's life when I was pregnant.

I left Dr. Rogacz because she had such a terrible "bedside manner" and it was hard to get in. I switched to Dr. Tanen with Endocrine Associates in McLean and have been with him for the last several years. He is the best and super nice, as is all of the staff in his office. He personally ushers you in from the waiting area and personally calls you with any test results.

Tanen is excellent. We had to leave him due to insurance reasons, but he was fantastic for my wife for a decade.

I'd like to vouch for Dr. Tannen as well. I've been seeing him for the past 8 years for Type 1 diabetes. My Mom, Sister, and two neighbors all see him for thyroid issues. His office is super convenient to the Tyson's area and I always get in and out (bloodwork and all) in about 30-40 minutes.

I left Rogaz for Tannen as well. Rogoaz's staff was rude--Rogaz wanted to talk about her personal life--the parking was impossible--and half the time the elevators were out. Tannen and his staff are amazing. He is far more professional as is his staff and the management of the building they occupy. It is a little confusing to find his office in the maze of Tysons, but it is worth it.

Does Safa return phone calls? I've had high blood glucose readings (diabetic Type 2) since discontinuing Victoza for financial reasons (fell in donut and Target charges $228/mo!!!). It's been over a week and my Endoc. hasn't responded to multiple calls/emails. BTW, anyone else on Victoza? Anyone discontinue and have sugars go high?

I've seen most of the endocrinologists in the area. I'm at Northern VA Endocrinologists now, and it works. Dr. Tanen dismissed me, stating that since I was allergic to the only medication he ever tried that he could not help me. He knew coming in that I have extensive medication allergies, and I told him it might take several tries to find something that would work. He just didn't want to put in the effort.

Avoid Dr. Bach-Huynh at all costs - not worth it. I made the mistake of seeing her whilst feeling incredibly ill. She attributed my poor glucose control to me "not understanding the basics of carb counting!" and all that jazz, despite being a type 1 diabetic with near perfect control throughout the 11 year course of my disease. A few weeks following my appointment with Dr. Bach, I was given a copy of her report of our meeting, basically statingI was well apart from severe derangement and disordered thinking, in almost those exact words. A month later I was diagnosed with neuropathy of my autonomic nervous system - including heart issues, gastroparesis, and decreased absorption of the insulin I had been taking after being unable to keep down food for 2 weeks and a severe systemic infection. I approached Dr. Bach for help at a time where I felt the most ill that I had ever felt in my life, and she deemed it was all in my head. Turns out it was due to diabetic complications instead, no surprise! Stay away, best go to a Doctor who cares for their patients enough to look into their patients issues instead of chalking them up to a mental disorder. :( Just felt I should get my story out there for other prospective patients who may stumble upon the name so that they may find proper treatment.

i've been thinking i should get lab tests and do it myself

after years of medical insurance here is what i got:

0) medication/treatment after serious poisoning by someone in town (1990's)

1) check eye for metal (no, just scratched)

2) poisioned near death by doctor who ignored obvious signs and counter-indications, lied to judge about it

that's it! what a fucking waste of money i'd have done it better myself buying what lab equipment or mail-order-test-kits i could afford

fuck that. too much medical fraud. and now an onslought of doctors who need to profit "badly"

i had one do a radioactive test on me (later finding out this has long term effects leading to death). this was after i was already diagnosed for the illness i came in for. very serious symptoms, very very high cholesterol for my age (though they might have missed something - like sugar levels or starvation?). my employer fired me the day i was ill though i said i was arranging to see a doctor for serious symptoms. actually it was partly all the overtime they promised i wouldn't have to work - but kept putting people on vacation insisting i'd be fired if i didn't pick up the hours. i was a union worker: union did nothing for me except replace me with a fucking foreigner. thought both mentioned were illegal! not in fx co.

said they "saw something", a possible spot they said, and was refrerred

i had an appointment with a GI guy which was for ? reviewing the refferral ?

i was double billed on my VISA. insurance never payed half though they'd already got the decutable - so in a way i was billed THREE TIMES

i tried to get the matter resolved they refused. i simply gave up due to many pressing factors in my life - they stole and got away with it - it was pretty close to the VA lottery buildign if i remember. i still have the card, dr re

oh i forgot a fucking foreigner doctor, without warning, did a damn ninja press on one of my organs that hurt like crap. i almost got up and beat his ass. asked him why. he said "i had to i was just checking an organ". i think he was lying to me. he later diagnosed cholesterol and massive fatigue.

end of story: i was fired for one day of reported illness though i saw a doctor and it was legit. i treated my own illness by diet - which i'd learned was way out of proportion (turns out an X dietitian had been constricting my diet - maybe to kill me or cause problems. i'd eaten healthy but hadn't realized how badly the partial diet (top of food pyramid only) at my age could impact me)

end of story: i had learned about proper diet, was surprised i was a victim of high level at my age, and fixed the diet myself

end of story:

i had already warned employer i was nursing an illness that too much overtime would be harmful - they SOUGHT to do it

while the doctor said this or that: i was ALREADY going to get more rest and watch my diet

-----------------------
SUMMARY: payed many many times to get my health better: ends up they didn't do dick and i did it myself. i was insured - so there really wasn't an excuse for it - except the insurance company doing a cover up.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

the imaging people had lied like crap.

i knew any heavy metal in blood was unhealthy - never studied impacts of

i'd asked them they reported: oh this new equipment measures smaller ammounts than old equipment - it's safer

i later learn: if you can TASTE the metal in your blood (yea, you do) then it's enough to cause serious problems especially if you get it multiple times

that's a recent study OF THE NEWER EQUIPMENT - it's not good for you and can cause death later in life - has caused death in a good percent of people scanned. it'd been posted as a test to be done only in life saving situations: due to know side effects it can cause death

--------------------------------
that was only one case, although i had two or three. i'd been x-rayed for no reason - those situations i'm not discussing - but as i said - happened

i go to an insurance doctor with some symptoms. they are not mental illness symptoms according to, say, web md

she, the bitch doctor, insists i'm depressed and i need Prozac.

i say "nope - i'm perfectly happy and pretty resillient to depression. not depressed a bit !"

she continues to insist i must go on prozac. i walk out - saying she's not done anything to diagnose my (ie, upper/lower GI maladays)

(note - after news publicized it cuases suicide tendencies and organ failure, obsession leading to mass killings: the company Prozac began marketing the product to pets to cover their losses in the human market. hey: but it's good for people too. if your a sucker.)

BUT I HAVE PROBLEMS - WHICH ARE NOW A MATTER VISIBLE TO PLAIN EYESIGHT

mother fuckers in this area prescribe without labs, bill for labs, and cheat the labs, in my experience

that is my mileage - and i have plenty of proof it's exactly as i said

at gunpoint i was taken for "treatment" by fairfax democrats, seized from my home. they billed me for it to, those mother fuckers.

guess what? they found nothing wrong!

so after, at gunpoint and being forced fuckin foreigners physically to take a pills for > 30 days WITHOUT A TRIAL

------------------------------
now i have visible GI symptoms that are definetly deadly

but it's ok! i had lab work recently done at gunpoint - and they say i'm clean

SO DON"T WORRY. your in fx co

NEVER SAY IT CAN'T GET WORSE

so i later find out this x dietitian was burning 5-10lb of meat daily, then another 5-10 burned served...

was limiting diet to mostly oily meat and cheese - and veges, even bread, and esp fruit were very limited and only by "permission"

i later found out this dietitian, serving heart attack diet by authority, was pigging out long meals of healthy salads while no one else was home

which is likely why - i always wondered - the same person ate VERY LITTLE at these meals

ah fairfax, i could tell you many sortid stories of what a friendly community this is !

Dr. Link is great but only for pediatric care. My daughter was referred to her when she was 13 and we had a great re pore with her but the minute she turned 21 she dropped her as a patient. My husband and I were upset as she knew our history and didn't even refer us to another doctor.

"re pore"? To pore again? Ah, "rapport". English is fundamental...even when it's a French word.

Yeah, I'm being snarky. But you're apparently at least 35 (if you had the kid at 14!), should know better than to use words too big for you.

Especially here...
