Education
I believe in parental and student choice in education. Not all students fit into the same mold, and not all students learn the same way. Therefore, it does not make sense to send all children to a public school with one curriculum and one agenda set by a few select politicians inside the Beltway. Education should be localized and left up to the parents. Mandatory national standards such as those established by No Child Left Behind provide a lowest common denominator for all students and is made even worse when the funding is not available for it. We need to lessen the federal bureaucracy in education and respect state, parental and students' rights because when they are empowered to make a difference they will.

Real ID
I am absolutely opposed to Homeland Security's mandate for all the states to implement a bio-metric identification card for all citizens. There is no way the government can ensure our personal information is protected from highly motivated hackers and internal abuse. Instead of being more secure, citizens will be more vulnerable to identify theft and publication of personal information. The Real ID act also poses a major infringement on our privacy rights and civil liberties and I will not stand for it.

Transportation
Virginia motorists pay a federal fuel tax to the extent of 18.3 cents per gallon on gasoline and 21 cents per gallon on diesel fuel. This tax goes into the Federal Highway Trust Fund, which returns these fuel tax revenues to the states for their highway and transit projects. The problem is that states such as Virginia pay far more into the system than we get back. The result is that Virginians get the short end of the stick while states such as Alaska are building multi-million dollar bridges to no where. As your Congressman, I will demand that Northern Virginia gets its fair share of the funds from the Trust.

It's good to see that there is someone fit to challenge that Ellmore idiot for the GOP primary. Singh sounds like a common-sense Republican, not one of those goofy family-values christian nutcases. Singh will probably do good among the Ron Paul supporters. Either guy will have a tough time against Moran though. Amit Singh's biggest flaw: he's from Richmond! (ugh)

Post ran an article last week:
