That seems to be fiction. According to letter from a Mt. Vernon district supervisor it seems Harold J Wilson won and got majority votes from residents. However they refuse to name it that.
they want another vote plus the school board.
I think this is very fucked up because they want the school to be about a female.
I'm not a sexist but i do believe it's wrong to target a school for a certain gender.
I voted for Wilson because out of the four names i got.

If the community asked for Wilson make it wilson no one cares about the school boards opinion most of you don't even live in the Lorton Area. IF we voted for it make it that we our the people that have kids or are kids going to the school we should make that decision! In fact to even woo the Wilson they've added Malcom and Stevens middle school.

Fairfax County has run amok; School Board, Dr. Dale, Athletics, etc. All of it.

There was a time where we all actually cared and went with what was right. Now we look to appease people instead of doing for the greater good.

Quit your bitchin'. Does the name of the school really predict how successfully it will educate children? If I were you, I'd be more concerned about how piss poor the whole school system has become. Keep complaining about the names while the whole system goes down the shitter - only in Fairfax. Thankfully, Fairfax schools will never be an option for my children.

They ought to do it like NYC does it. UNname all FCPS schools and just number them. P.S. 1 through P.S. whatever.

You must be new to the area. SOP for FCPS School Board. Sit through bogus "community engagement" meetings, provide your input when asked, then they toss it out the window and do whatever the hell they want.

No, in fact a majority of the students and parents at South County want it to be called South County Middle School and NOT Wilson, Nike etc. We take pride in our school and its name. So let the current and future students decide. And seriously, Wilson sounds dull.
