Hi, I miss the old chesapeake bay seafood house (great for crab legs). Anything like that around anymore?

Calabash Seafood in Richmond (Mechanicsville) is almost the same set up as the old Chesapeake Bay

On Wed. nights, they have AYCE crab legs for $20.00

Well since this is a Fairfax Forum. You can try

Capt Pells crab shack
In Fairfax City

or in Gainesville

Blue Ridge Seafood and Crab,

I have been to both, and I thought Blue Ridge is better.

But then again you are not getting Chesapeake crabs if you go to these places to so dont even bother asking.

There is still a Chesapeake Bay Seafood House at Potomac Mills. Although unless you enjoy small rubbery crab legs, I would go somewhere else.

The Chesapeake at Potomac Mills closed over two years ago. It was a chinese place a while ago, who knows what it is now...

Capt'n Pells is ok. A bit overpriced, I get my blue crab from Springfield Seafood and then I do not have to pay Capt'n Pell his 50c per cup of butter, LOL

Fuck seafood buffets. Are you looking for food-born illness?

Seriously, dude.

Legal Seafood in Tysons and M@S at RTC are the best IMO.

Anyone try Bonefish? I haven't made a trip over their yet...

Not a seafood buffet, but I think that you are focusing on crab places--if so, in Arlington, it is the Quarterdeck, which is sort of just outside of Rosslyn and the Courthouse area, on a part of N. Fort Myer Drive that connects to almost nothing. Great place, great crabs (10 years ago, anyway). Indoor and outdoor seating. I think I have seen it mentioned in one or more other threads on here.

The buffet at Phillip's in DC is good. It's pretty huge actually. I can't attest to the quality of the crab legs, but they always have them out.

Runs about 30 bucks for dinner.

Do these places serve Snow/Alaskan crab legs or just blue crabs? Does anyone know if the Chesapeake Bay in Fredericksburg also closed?

IMHO, Phillips is about the best around. Weeknights are best as weekend
crowds are huge, lines are long, and sometimes rowdy. Crab legs are as
good as any.

and wish it well,

But you cant get rid,
of that fishy smell"

Q-deck smells like a french whore house and you are just as likely to catch an unpronouncable disease there as one.

CAPTAIN PELL's is excellent NOT ONLY FOR CRABS BUT ALSO THEIR SEAFOOD PLATTERS.

VERY, VERY CONSISTENT

And so are most of the patrons that darken its door.

I went to a Chesapeake Seafood Buffet, and there must have been enough weight in there to alter the earth's rotational axis.

If I were a 1) defibrilator rep, or 2) a chair salesman, Philips and Chesapeake would be my first stop every. day. of. the. week.

Phillip's was good a few years ago. My girlfriend and I had a grat meal at the one in Ocean City last summer that she decided to treat me to dinner there again, but in DC. It was not good at all. Sure, large selection, but the food was cold, and cold seafood is the worst. There were only a few dishes that were ok, like the steamed shrimp with cocktail sauce (pretty hard to f-- up), but some dished, including a crab pasta they made on request made us sick just to smell... we tried to throw it away in the bucket, but the smell penetrated so we had to move upwind. The service there is also pretty poor. Not that the waiters have to do much cause its a seafood help-your-freekin-self buffet, but they could have been friendlier. There were only a hadful of people there (we went for an early dinner on a weeknight) but we were rejected from sitting near the window overlooking the waterfront. Being early and unpopulated may have been a contributing factor to the food being cold, but a restaurant that is not consistent is not worth taking a gamble on, especially at 30 dollars a head.

Capt Pells was a big disappointment. The restrooms reaked. The atmosphere was good enough otherwise - sports bartype thing. The crabs were only so-so. After a recent trip to Baltimore it was a real let down.
