RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Dominion Virginia Power customers can expect to see a slight increase on their next bill.

The utility says an annual rate adjustment to pay for power-plant financing costs kicks in April 1. The typical bill for customers using 1,000 kilowatt-hours will increase by 43 cents, to $109.90. That's less than a 1 percent increase.

Most of the increase is attributed to the Warren County Power Station, a 1,300-megawatt natural gas-fired plant that was approved this year by the State Corporation Commission and is projected to start operating by late 2014.

Starts operating in 2014, but we get to start paying for it now? Wow, I'm excited!

I'd love to hear more about opportunities to pay for something I can't use.

They didn't have an excuse ie cold weather snow to lie about high bills, thus this. There will be more :(

This is not something new. In the past Virginia has approved rate increases based on current costs of constructing facilities that would come on line in the future.

What? Adversely impact dividends in order to finance power plant construction?

No, no, no, that's what the little people are for. Pay your bill and shut up.

We are lucky to have Virginia Power, we pay below the national average for our power.
