Used Car Finance
Posted by: used car ()

I am looking to buy a used car for about $15000. I have $5000 down payment. I would like to finance the rest w/ my local credit union. I belong to nfcu and have been with them for a few years. My credit is completely shot from identity theft that I am still recovering from. All of my credit cards show on time payments w/ no misses for a few years. My score shows 486 due to the fraudelant charge offs. I know there is no way I will get approved if I apply online with them but my question is would the branch manager will be able to override the decision and get me approved. I dont care about the apr and expect it to be through the roof. I have known and dealt with the manager for a few yars now and I have a well established savings and checking account that was never overdrafted or writtena a bad check.Do you think she will be help me out if I go there in person rather then applying online? Thank You

P.S. I don't want to go to easters or some off the wall dealer. I would just like to get a check from my credit union and pay the rest in cash and shop around to find the car that I want instead of settling for something they have at the lot on that particular day. I would rather drive my older car and wait then settling.

There is nothing wrong with the credit that I have, I have high credit limits but like I have said I got some bs charge off accounts that was the case of identity theft and I am still writing back in worth to credit bureaus to get that shit removed.

Try Credit Acceptance. They work with second and third chance credit people who need another chance, and from I have been told, they really do work with people.

Definitely go talk with somebody in person at a bank where you already have a relationship. You could also try prosper.com. You'll pay a higher interest rate there but you'll have a chance to lay out your sob story and explain the identity theft.

If your FICO score is low, you are not going to get a good %.

Lol @ Prosper.

If you are asking private citizens for money, you are most likely fucked.

Because at that point even the banks wont approve you. Too much risk.

Prosper.com will not approve you if your FICO score is below 520. When you fill out your application, just as soon as you type your social security number it goes directly to Experian, and they will either reject or accept your application. However, it's a great program once you have been accepted by prosper.com

this really sucks, I have $2500 wort of fraudelant charge off debt that shows on my credit report that sinks my score since they havent been paid for over a year now and being reported to all 3 bureaues. I tried contacting all 3 bureaus by mail on several occasions but they find the debt to be somehow valid. I placed fraud alert on my credit report and havent had any problems since(perhaps its because the credit score is too low for a potential scammer to even do anything w/ it) but looks like I just might have to pay this off and be done with even though this is complete bullshit. I carry a low balance on my credit cards and always pay on time, there is no reason why I shouldnt get a loan. Fuck it I am just going to send the check for the amount so they can finally submit it as paid .

So which is it, native? Fraud or missed payments? In your original post, you said you told creditors you were going to be unable to pay about $500 in debt for several months resulting in them turning you over to collection agencies. Now you are claiming you have $2,500 in fraudulent charges. You need to get your story straight if you want to bamboozle the credit bureaus into believing that your lack of fiscal responsibility is somebody else's fault.

Yeah I was just going to pay it off from the beginning since I figured there is no fighting chance of proving that the debt was fraudelant but was advised otherwise by relatives so I kept fighting with the bureaus but nothing came out of it so the check will be in the mail tomorrow

Careful about paying it off. Whether you pay it or not it's going to affect your credit report. If you pay it off, however, you reset the clock on how long that will stay on your report. If will disappear 7 years from the date of last activity. If it has already been 3 years and you pay it off now you start back at 7 years. Othwerwise, it would drop off in 4 years. Credit card companies suck. They make people believe there are protections but they never honor claims.

Oh, the other thing I forgot to mention about Prosper is that it is harder for people in Virginia. Virginia puts a cap on the maximum interest rate that can be charged and people won't be willing to fund a loan for people with really bad credit if the interest rate is capped.
