Don Geronimo - Good Riddance
Posted by: Mike O'Meara ()

I am glad to see Don Geronimo has finally thrown in the towel. His show has sucked for a long time now, and he has no sense of humor or ability to do anything funny left in him. He is a miserable prick.

I like to think Fairfax Underground helped accelerate his departure after his wife's death. He was just so awful, clearly having some horrible website out to get him just pushed his sorry ass over the edge. He's a bitch and he won't be missed by anyone who matters.

Also, I am glad that dank pit of a restaurant I ran was finally done in. Talk about a dangerous place for anyone who cares about their health to eat.

What is this about Don and Fairfax Underground that I hear? Did he actually post here or something? Of course people have used his name once or twice, but they're not him.

To make a long story short:

Don had a major problem with stuff that got posted here a few years ago. He ranted about this board live on the air, the site got flooded and knocked offline, he called Cary and yelled at him, and some other people received death threats over the phone from some of Don's thugs. I'm not making that up.

I have the audio clip of Don yelling about FU, but won't post it because it mentions people by name and is copyrighted material.

Is Don Geronimo/Mike Sorce retiring soon? I thought that it was going to be early in 2008 and I was thinking about this the other day when I passed by 106.7 and it was clearly a 'best of' segment. I admit to listening to D&M on a regular basis up until shortly before Freda's death, but whenever I tuned in after that the show seemed tired. Maybe I am just getting older, but the same thing happened for me with Howard Stern and this is well before Sirius ever became the focal point of his show.

Thanks for the tip-off on O'Meara's. I looked it up on DCRTV and it has, in fact, gone under. Apparently the landlord just padlocked the place, so it sounds like O'Meara's associates' simply stopped paying bills at some point.

I went to O'Meara's a couple of times. It was okay. It was much better than Brady's or whatever it was called before. However, I thought the food was just okay, which doesn't really work when you are charging McCormick and Schmick prices for "okay" food. The place was also more pub than restaurant.

Anyway, I can't blame O'Meara for the place not making it. It sounds like his business partner didn't know how to run a restaurant, given the broo-ha-ha over the botched purchase of Sign of the Whale a few years back. Most restaurants don't succeed. It's too bad for Mike he teamed up with somebody who really didn't get how to make one work.

He was supposed to leave on May 30th but he just up and quit. I think the guy has some real issues. I guess if you really hate doing your job that much, it's better just to leave.

From DCRTV...

O'Meara's Pub Closes - 4/2 - Speaking of WJFK's Don and Mike, we're getting confirmation that Mike O'Meara's Northern Virginia eatery and Irish pub, O'Meara's, has gone belly-up. Its website is gone. And the old town Manassas storefront has been locked up, we're told. O'Meara had heavily promoted the business on his afternoon radio show. O'Meara and a business partner had tried to buy a Dupont Circle area pub last year, but that deal fell through.....

I used to love that show but I agree it has not been very good the past few years. Part of it was Don's crappy personality and part of it was the FCC cracking down on their funniest stunts and conversation.
I am glad that they are moving the show back to Fairfax though. The radio station is near my house. I can't understand why they are bringing Beth Ann back. She seemed kind of bland to me.
I think Mike should lose weight and quit drinking. He does not look healthy.
Well that's enough of my two cents worth.

They should just give Joe Radio the afternoon spot. Only Joe Ardinger can keep the Joementum rolling.

i like the D&M show. Im not fanatical about it but its diverting to listen to rather than the usual sports talk blather or crappy music that gets played on other stations. Sad to see Don go. Oh well.

Jim Rome's entire career has been milked out of this one incident...

What an ass. Too bad Everett didn't kill him.

Rome is an insufferably arrogant piece of shit...clearly only on to appease the dumbass fan who enjoys conflict more than substance.

Fuck mike Sorce. (Fuck Mike O'Meara, too.) Anyway, as concerns Mike Sorce, aka "Don Geronimo," fuck you.

You're a functionally illiterate asshole who is beyond arrogant. Fuck you and what's left of your're family too!

Oh! I was too harsh? Well, in the past three weeks I've undergone MORE than just losing a wife, so fuck you, Don, for trying, and failing, to assert that your brand of suffering is worse than mine! Fuck you!

Maybe you should be more like InLoveWithHimForever and start cutting...might take some of the edge off.

Although, I always preferred vast amounts of alcohol for my suffering. The occasional cock fight and maybe a good midget tossing from time to time.

Freda was probably prettier than your wife, so I have no doubt Don's suffering is worse than yours.

I lost all respect for Don when DnM had the fan night at Mike's restaurant. Don was using very foul language to an elderly couple who trying to enjoy an evening together in the restaurant. Mike seemed to be a very angry and empty man. I left after a few minutes there.

That must be why Mike's restaurant failed. Not the shitty food or service or multiple ABC violations.
