Is it legal to do the open-carry pistol deal in Fairfax Co. parks like Burke Lake and Accotink?

That only applies to state parks.

If you read this and understand it, you will know why I linked the change in the VA State Code:

The ONLY people prohibited from carrying openly in a Fairfax County Park are convincted felons and possibly Park Employees (as it may be against their terms in the employee handbook). However, anyone else can.

I'm waiting for the day when one of you gunslingers gets your pistol taken away by a gangbanger or some other real tough guy who isn't impressed by your self-important display of firepower. And, before you go off on your mantra about the 2nd Amendment or how much you hate liberals, know that I have a concealed permit and use it. The difference is that I'm not vain enough to believe that I can take on all comers. So keep on proudly advertising your right to become a victim.

I'm definitely not waiting for the day, but if you're gonna carry, conceal it. Just go through the steps.

You mean people who want to open carry in parks aren't sharp enough to know how to use Google?

I can't believe it.

Is it right to be teased by someone who thought it was important for everyone to know about Boo Taylor the cremated mutt? Besides, I never said that Blue Thunder was following me. My last missive on the subject was when the flying circus put on another air show for us at 1:15 this morning. So, try to keep up.

Lots of merit in this post. OC is perfectly legal, but not the smartest thing to do. If you feel like you can take on 2 people bigger than you, while maintaining positive control of a weapon they KNOW you have then go for it but you wont like the results. Been there, done that and let me tell you its not as easy as you think. You WILL have your ass beat.

Instead, CC and learn how to handle MUC (Managing unknown contacts) and IFWA (In Fight Weapons Access) If youve never heard of those two terms before, you are even more fucked than you think.

Strangely out of character, whenever I see a group of open-carriers I have this amazing urge to throw a few firecrackers while yelling "The guy with the beard! The guy with the beard!", then ducking. For some reason I drove past the Expo Center doors once when they were having a gun show and was amazed at the number of folks open-carrying; that was the first instance of The Urge.

Now if you want to concealed carry, there's a new one in town:

Two-shot .45 with another two cartridges stored in handle. MORE than enough to stop a robbery attempt.

This gun allows you to miss with two rounds at once and then get your ass kicked while you struggle to reload.

That Heizer Doubletap made from titanium might explode in your hand but if it don't it will kick the shit out your hand ported or not. Forget those ported barrels, that a good way get a lot flames in the face or get burnt. After a couple of rounds you will be looking for a real gun.

When did you drive by the Gun Show and witness all these people open carrying? (FYI, the gun show prohibits OC for insurance reasons - so yes, I'm calling out your bullshit).

Didnt happen unless he considers people carrying trade ins/sales open carry which would show how little he knows about the subject

when did they start that, I was there maybe a year ago and many were carrying guns the only issue was they checked the guns at the door to make sure they were empty and put a plastic tie through the cylinder or grip. A typical sight was a long gun with a wooden rod in it with a for sale flag attached. I saw plenty of open carry in the parking lot.

Did the policy change?

Its not open carrying if you have the gun open and cleared like that and only have the gun to trade/sell or just bought one. Open carry refers to actually carrying a useable weapon with ammo as opposed to a cleared one with some sort of restraint attached.

The only people open carrying there are dealers if they want to and the police

I have never attended a gun show - in the instance I accurately related I drove past one at the Capital Expo Center (now a Walmart?) maybe going to a computer show in "the other hall" and there were MANY people wearing holsters with guns in them walking around EXACTLY as that video above shows.

It looked and felt totally stupid to see that - really have to wonder where their heads are - seriously.

BTW - the urge to throw the firecrackers and shout "The guy with the beard! The guy with the beard!" is stronger than ever.

And truly stranger still - I have a beard! Oopsie...wrong redirection, huh?

Maybe instead of exercising the 2nd amendment, they should just exercise.
