Fairfax County General :
Fairfax Underground
Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
so these are quite popular in some of the county's neighborhood libraries, and one I went to last week had a long line waiting before the doors opened.
But half the people in there had these little devices in their hands and they are on some kind of a mission, scanning books, even if you are holding it. I about punched a guy who tried to grab one that I was holding. So what is this all about and who are these scumbags? Anyone know?
They are saps who know nothing about books. The scanning can potentially reveal a sample price for said book on the 'internet.' Unfortunately, they are wasting their time.
I see the same people at every sale so they must think it works. Some are quite pushy. I assume they must be re-sellers for whom this is their business.
do county libraries get to keep all the money they get from a used book sale or do they have to send part of it back to the county to be placed in the general fund?
