Verizon FIOS advice needed
Posted by: Ihateverizon ()
Date: March 31, 2008 03:09PM

I have Verizon FIOS in my house (cable, tel, internet). Yesterday all three of them stopped working. I called Verizon and was told someone would come in three hours. Waited and waited until no one showed up. Finally called back and was told someone would come Tuesday at the earliest by a real jackass supervisor. When I told him my phone does not work he told me to use my cellphone. I told him my security system won't work without phone service he told me to wait until Tuesday. Since Verizon is monopoly there really isn't much I can do. However, does anyone know what I can do or who I can call to express my frustrations with these son of a bitches. Thanks.

Get Cox, it is much better and there is no massive a=outages like this. Also, keep your normal POTS/PSTN fone, it always works.

Yes, there are a couple of things you can do. First, Verizon is a phone company and falls under state regulation. Track down the appropriate state agency and file a complaint. I have done this before with a different phone company. You will be shocked at how quickly they respond when state regulators start contacting them. Second, contact your member of Congress and file a complaint. All members of Congress have staffers who deal with constituents complaints. Verizon also faces Federal regulation. A nice letter from a Congressional staffer will also get Verizon's attention.

I will add that if you have the name of the jack-ass supervisor, be sure to include that in your correspondence with these folks.

here's the deal, if you are going to be paying a lot just for a security system, you should not have it hooked up to any form of VOIP as it doesnt take much for it to go down. KeepOnTruckin is correct in that POTS does not go down unless the connection is physically severed as it supplies it's own power. however, FIOS is much better than Cox internet service and i would only suggest you switch out the VOIP for a POTS connection. you could be in the same situation if you had cox and your cable modem died.

Go to cox, tell them you have fios, and see what they are willing to offer. I hear they have good deals for those that have other options.

Verizon is also a publicly-traded company (NYSE: VZ). Visit their website to find out who their Investor Relations Officer is and send an e-mail or call. Tell them you are an investor who's had issues with their customer service department. You'll be surprised at the level of responsiveness. -§

Speaking of Verizon..they came out last week cuz my wireless keeps kicking off and reconnecting..changed settings on 3 laptops...one laptop (which was old anyway) had to have Windows reinstalled in hopes of getting back online. Still can't get back online with it. Do you think Verizon could have done something? Have checked passwords, etc but they're accurate
