I don't think the Teacher should be fired at all. Kids these days are snot-nosed little punks that act like entitled douche-bags who believe that the entire World exists only to serve them, and then they go running to Mommy and Daddy, (or Mommy and Daddy's lawyer), every time they find that their piss-poor attitude has gotten their asses into a tight spot.

I hope the teacher kicked the shit out of him. He should be made "Teacher of the Year".

Fixed it for you.

Today, a teacher started fighting with a student
because the student said he didn't care if he failed the teacher's
class. Does anyone know if the teacher was fired? It
happened during second period and the student in question wasn't in the
classroom during "Pride time." Is there any other news about this incident you can share?

Good going, Sherlock. Another awesome show of being able to read stuff. Look at the poster name, then re-read your "clever" comment.

Just curious, for all of you idiots who just blindly speak up against the students and advocate for dumbass teachers, WTF happened to you, sexually abused by your parents or something? Let me guess-you hate your jobs, your wife, your life, your kids, yourselves. Grow up, advocate, grow a pair, stand up for your kids. If you don't like and trust your own kids, its your faults, assholes.

I trust my kids, but not someone else's kid who picks a fight with a teacher. And much less so their parents who defend that behavior... THEY are the true animals.

I like my kids fine. As a matter of fact, I love them so much I'm teaching them to self-advocate so that when they're out on their own (either in college or afterwards), they won't be calling me up and asking me to come into the classroom/jobsite because someone in their class/on the job is causing them problems.

I'd say the problem here lies with the parents of the student, the student himself and the teacher. The parents for not teaching the kid that fighting an authority figure is no way to solve problems, the kid for thinking that fighting a teacher is a good idea, and the teacher for thinking that fighting a student is a good idea. Teacher should be fired; kids should be suspended and the parents should hang their head in shame, shaking them back and forth, asking themselves "where did we go wrong?" while rolling another fat one.

Yes, being sexually abused as a child later translates into an appreciation for education, respect for elders, and a base level of civility and common manners.

I see that you could have used a little more sexual abuse when you were younger.

Taylor: no being sexually abused as a child gives you low self esteem and internalized oppression so that you blindly and arbitrarily suck up to authority whatever the source. You assume that a teacher is right regardless of whether they are or not. Why would you assign respect to anyone regardless of age, gender or position without using your (maybe missing) brain? Low self esteem.

Because respect should automatically be shown to anyone who is older than you, smarter than you, more powerful than you, or in a position of authority over you.

It USED to be that everyone treated everyone else with a baseline level of respect, but PARTICULARLY Elders and Teachers. Whatever their issues, a Teacher is someone who has devoted their time and efforts toward trying to help you learn and elevate yourself. They don't get paid much to try and help your stupid ass, and the work is grueling. They should be respected for that alone. See, they don't have to respect you. What have you done to earn any respect? What have you made of yourself? What have you done with the life you were given. The Teacher has done WAY MORE things deserving of respect than you have as a High School student.

Also, about 99.99998 percent of the time, when there's an issue between a Teacher and a spoiled, entitled, punk-ass student, it's always the student who was in the wrong.

wow Taylor, you must be a dumbass, where did you learn that? So in your opinion with age comes wisdom? NO, with age physiologically comes a loss of brain cells and agility and a host of other traits that are diminished with time, You must be Asian or something, Wake up. Respect should be given only to those who earn it and are worthy of it, and never arbitrarily. Think. A teacher is nothing different than any other idiot who went to school for 4 years (I can name many other potential idiot professions) There are good ones and bad ones, but because they went to school for 4 years, means virtually nothing.

Your viewpoint on the issue of respect is one of the reasons this Country is having the trouble that it is. Ironically, as much as you claim to subscribe to the "I don't give respect until it's earned", theory, I bet you're the first guy at the bar, (if you're old enough to drink), who gets all bent out if shape if he feels like he's not getting the respect he "deserves".

People who are older than you have accomplished MORE than you. They have years of knowledge and wisdom that you don't have, as well as a whole lot more life experience. They've experienced love and loss and a hundred other things that you haven't encountered yet. They deserve respect just for having made it further than you, in the same way that the Varsity team deserves the respect of the J.V. team.

The other thing that you're apparently not old, (or wise?) enough to understand is that these people will share their wisdom and knowledge with you if you're half-ass respectful. Every single person you meet has something of value that you could learn from them. They can give you tips on how to handle situations, deal with setbacks, and take advantage of potential opportunities. They could be your allies in your attempt to better yourself and your situation in life, (assuming you even want better things for yourself). But you LOSE all that by acting like a "I don't have to respect ANYONE, 'cause I'm a punk-ass doofus", attitude.

Go ahead, keep thinking that no one is worthy of your "oh so valuable" respect, and see where it gets you............. The funny thing, (and the thing that proves your ignorance), is that your refusal to respect or learn from those who have something they could teach you, doesn't hurt them. It only hurts you............ I'm sure you'll have plenty of time to think about it while you're pumping their gas or painting their houses someday.

Taylor, you couldn't be further from the truth- I am a fairly old woman and parent of four who are successful and I am a professional(PhD), I would never ascribe arbitrary respect to ANYONE based on anything other than integrity, skill, intelligence and a whole host of other things that have absolutely nothing to do with age or position. So where do you cut it off? someone with a four year degree is worthy, (any four year degree) over someone with a HS diploma or just a kid. I meet kids all the time who surpass dumb adults who have forgotten everything they learned in kindergarten. (sharing, open mindedness, lack of being judgemental,) as a matter of fact I can't think of the last time I meet an adult that I respected. Truly.

Yeah? That's really awesome! I'm a 23 year old Russian woman. I have 7 PhD's, 3 Masters, and 12 Bachelor's Degrees in Neuroscience and other related fields. I'm glad that we could have such a "meeting of the minds" here on the intar-webs where no one can make shit up.

back in my day a fellow student was making a ruckus outside our class. the teacher went into the all and said, "son, would you mind taking it elsewhere. isn't there a class you're supposed to be in?" the guy (who was this big black dude responds "son? you aint my daddy!"

The teacher, who was about 5'8 on a good day, walked out into the hallway, reached up and grabbed the guy by the back of the neck and escorted him down to the office. what no one realized before that day was our teacher was a retired drill sergeant and took guff from no one.

if we didn't give him respect before that day, we certainly did afterwards!

Sounds like the teacher did the job for the parents that would not raise their son to learn to respect adults.

There was no fight, repeat, there was NO FIGHT at FHS or anyother school, middle or high, where a teacher got into a fight with a student or anyone else for any reason.

There is no credibility in what the OP stated.

Sad.

If this thread is true, I think people need to look at what started the fight and who. For our schools to work students need to respect the teacher and staff. If a kids does not like something they can not just punch the staff or the staff just hit the kids. Many in this county have a sense of entitlement which would not surprise me if this was true. Lets all face it the school need help the system is not prefect and they are only as good as the people in them both staff and kids.

Kewl, let me work on growing up and not calling someone a moron: I thank you for the advise, before I grow up I would of asked you how the window tasted while you were riding the short bus to school?
