Unless he gets struck by lightning or involved in some huge scandal, Warner sounds like a shoe-in. I don't see how it's possible for the Dems to lose this one. It'll be funny to see who the Republicans dig up to run against him.

edit: oops, it's that Gilmore nimrod, lol

Ten years ago, his opponent, Jim Gilmore, implemented a grand 5 year plan to get rid of the car tax.

And how well did that work?

That tax increase had bi-partisan support and was hailed as saving VA's status as a well governed state. I know you republikans hate taxes...seems you want a welfare state where your services are provided for free.

I'd actually love to respond to whatever incorrect and idiotic point you're attemting to make. Unfortunately, your comments are in such broken english they make absolutely no sense.

Seriously- go back and read that out loud to yourself, word by word.

Lets all agree...we hate all taxes...butttt...taxes are a necessary evil and as taxes go the car tax is a "good" tax...its one of the few that you could control how much you pay.

1. buy a cheaper car - you pay less
2. keep your cheap car - you pay less
3. by keeping your cheap car you probably end up maintaining it by bringing it to a shop...that keeps the bulk of your money in VA direcly helping others in your community...buy a new car and other then what the dealer keeps...the majority of the money goes out of state.

the only thing bad about the car tax is that you pay it in one lump sum...and it used to be due Dec 5th....a bah-humbug tax (that has changed)

What is his position on McDonald's family values? Will he fix that shit? I don't want McDonald's teaching my kids to eat at the false church of Burker King.

I love it! "The largest tax hike in VA history!". Where do these numbers come from? Were Virginians sent to the poor house because his new tax collection police sahowed up at their door? Did people immediately see their withholdings go up so much they could not afford to put food on the table or give money to their Christian Church of choice?

One example of critical thinking - a couple years ago the toll for the Fort McHenry went up. It had stayed the same toll $1 for 20 years. Since the toll doubled to $2, opponents of the then Governor called this - guess what - "the Largest tax hike in the history of Maryland".

Any time someone makes a claim like this think to yourself "what are they really saying"" and "based upon what facts". You will do better in life.

Another great resource for learning about critical thinking is http://www.skeptic.com/

yeah virginia could get some money be being like Delaware and just having outrageous tolls every 5 miles on I-95. There is no sales tax in Delaware either. That would also remove the question of taxing out-of-staters who use VA's roads, as was teh question with the abusive driver fees.

FYI: there is only 1 toll on 95 in Delaware.

Yes, but I-95's only like 10 miles long in Delaware, so techinically he may be right...

Nope, it's almost 25 miles thru DE. I think people get confused about the 95 tolls because Maryland collects that ridiculous 5 dollar toll going northbound shortly before you enter Delaware.
