Fairfax County General :
Fairfax Underground
Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
Stu Gibson (Hunter Mill District School Board member) was found guilty by the Va. Department of Education of violating the confidentiality rights of an 8 year old Fairfax county Public School student.
We only need a few hundred more signatures to take to court and have Stu removed from office. We will have times and locations next week where you can come to sign the petition.
You must be a REGISTERED VOTER AND LIVE IN THE HUNTER MILL DISTRICT. We will check drivers licenses prior to your signing the petition.

This is old news. Give it up. Nobody cares. If they would have cared, they would have signed the petition long ago.

Concern for FCPS Students simply wanted to let others know a few hundred more signatures are needed to have Gibson removed. This is for those who want him removed. You go find something else to do. Probably a typical SL supporter. But this petition has nothing to do with the redistricting.
Check what Stu is willing to do on the budget. If he will vote for changes and fiscal responsibility then he's worth keeping. If he's willing to NOT build SoCo middle school and that addition then you need Stu.
Is he perfect ? No. Was blabbing about Arakelian's kid OK? No. If Stu is willing, he does have the courage to work for everyone in the Hunter mill District in this fiscal climate.
This is all an attempt to unseat a member of the school board who, following a reasoned approach, decided to send the OP's kid to South Lakes. In a racist rage, the OP is trying to use a tired, old story to "do justice" in this matter.
These petition-signers could care less about this 8 year old girl's privacy rights. They are just exploiting her circumstances in order to advance their own little vendetta. They are childish people and should be ashamed of themselves.
RD is long over. So now we can focus on this. This is important. Today Gibson broke privacy laws, what laws will he break next? Is it safe to have a person convicted of beaking laws on school board? What if it was your child instead of someone elses?
Shame on you for supporting law breaks and letting them near our kids.

He was neither arrested nor convicted. That is a total distortion of fact on your part.
He received a "letter of findings" from the state's Dept. of Education, and was "forced" to issue an apology.
It is not twisting facts. Stu works at the justice department. He knows laws. He deliberately broke them. If he can break one, he can and will eventually break others. Don’t need a court to convict him. One does not become a criminal after being convicted in court - He becomes one the moment he deliberately breaks the law. Of the all the places, he should be not any school board. This issue was overshadowed by the RD folks, and so got masked. Now that the RD folks have gone away, we need to focus on the real issues of the kind of leadership we want to have on school board.

So not only should he be removed, he should be thrown in jail without a trial? These Redistricting people ARE crazy. They lose on a decision, so they start a public smear campaign and propose he be jailed without trial?
Whatever the truths or merits of the case, a petition has proved very ineffective. In Reston 3700 signatures to have the incorporation of Reston put on the ballot so people can then vote on it have been just ignored by our elected officials who it should be said were were reelected despite their ignoring or being against the petition.-Rod

It amazes me each day how crazy these people really are
smear campaign against Stu Gibson? That guy exploited a 8 year old records to get elected, is arrogant and has no respect for the law. He smears himself, no one else has to to that....

Are you saying that elected representatives in Reston don't care what the people want?
It is sad that they are using this child for further their racist agenda for revenge. These are sick people. They accept whatever school boundaries are set by agreeing to send their kids to schools on my dime... if they took their lawsuit money and put it toward private school tuition everyone would be happy (except the lawyers).

So by using that logic, everyone who has ever driven their vehicle faster than the posted speed limit -on purpose-, is a criminal? If so, then 99% of the people here (including, most likely, _you_) are criminals...and thus the distinction between "bad" Stu and the rest of us "good" people is lost.
Who knows? Stu gibson will NOT be seeking more funding for just about anything in FCPS while the county proposes cuts in stuff like suicide crisis hot lines. Next year it's going to be worse. If these school board members vote to build anything for that South county middle school group- addition or school- FX residents should file a lawsuit.
