Verizon FIOS sucks

All of a sudden the speed of our internet (verizon fios) was horrible, for all computers in the house, I went through the many many flow charts and tech support for Verizon, at least eight tries on same stuff (reset the router, replace the router) Now I have a stockpile of routers (some are just recycled junk) as the first tech said not to worry about sending it back. Now I read the fine print and they can charge $99 if you don't return old router. (so they can recycle it to another poor schmuck). So eventually after hours and hours on hold, being transferred and talking to techs they decided they needed to send someone out yesterday. First the guy said at 1:00 (no window, a specific time) then I got a text that said 1-5, so I took off work and stayed home to wait. No show. I called them, same BS: I'm sorry, theres nothing I can do." they use subcontractors to do home calls who have no signage on their vans and look straight out of detox. No show all day. I was at my sons recital at 8pm and my cell starts ringing (I then silenced it), they called like 4 times at 8 and on. WHAT? Verizon sucks and was recently rated as the third worst in customer service nationally (right behind B of A, which I think is the worst on earth). How is Cox for customer service? How fast is your internet?

I also have to say that the G4 broadband also sucks. Brops you off for no reason and customer service is the worst. Can't wait for my contract to end and I can get another more reliable service.

They are the definition of "fucking idiots." Their fios wire fell down from my house. I called after numerous trying to get a hold of someone. Then they came, and instead of common sense, putting the wire back up so I could have service of phone, net, cable, they took the wire.

Of course I was pissed. Figured though it could be handled quickly. Three days later, and only due to persistent and angry phone calls. Yeah, Verizon sucks. Even worse than the cocks at Cox.

I had a 1-5 pm appointment for my initial install. I think they showed up around 9:30 pm and were at my house until 11:45 pm. It is ridiculous. My internet is pretty good.... but dealing with Verizon is always a nightmare. I don't think I'd ever switch to Verizon celluar for sure. After having to deal with their strike and all levels of incompetency trying to _upgrade_ my service, I want to keep my contact with Verizon to a minimum.

We clearly need more competition in the market.

They even came out replaced the cable when my dumbass dog chewed it in half, didn't charge me anything either.

I loved it until the beginning of this year. I was home sick the first week of Jan with the flu. I had gotten Star Wars the Old Republic about a month earlier so I was playing away the days. One day, the connection dropped and I got kicked out. Odd, I though maybe there was a server outage, as I had never had that happen before.

Later that day, same thing and it has been the same until now. Can't play more than 30 minutes without problems. Now 5 visits later by three different techs, after having my outside box replaced twice and the splitters twice, the router replaced three times, it still isn't fixed.

The last thing is the PON card. I have read that these types of problems are with the PON card from other complaints. Everytime I bring it up, they talk to their supervisor and say they are going to reboot it and ask me to try it later. Then boom another tech shows up and I have to explain the same damn problem over again.

Latest episode, I am downloading software on my laptop and watching my Roku. The data rate drops to zero in the download and my roku stops and tries to reload. I am done. Yelling at tech support doesnt work, nothing works......

It's great until you have a problem, then you are paying for a flashing brick.

I've had FIOS for roughly 3 years now and I absolutely love it. Internet is fast as fuck, 45 down/35 up, HD looks great. I've never had any issues with my service at any of my locations. However, I do use my own router and not that piece of shit they provide. One thing to make certain is to use the ethernet port from the ONT rather than coax. But yes, I can agree the customer service is terrible. It usually takes 3 phone calls to get the exact changes I want.

Verizons website and technical support is laughable, but once things are working the quality is better (SD and HD picture) and bandwidth is better than anything COX can do.

Can't tell you how many times I would get lost in their draconian call system. Get used to being passed around from one rep to another, often ending up at a dead end where they can't help or you get dropped while waiting. For a telecom company its ironic they have such a bad call system.

But once you iron out the wrinkles you should be happy for years to come.

Verizon is worse than the Borg. Assimilate or else. They fill my mailbox with offers, they call me every night even when I asked them to stop. They send teams of salesmen around to pound on my door. While I admire their persistence I do not want FIOs.

Verizon Fios internet is definitely the best, as long as it doesn't fuck up to the point you have to call customer service. I try to stay away from Verizon services as much as possible, but they're usually the best out there. I use to have Cox internet and they sucked so bad, although their customer service is top notch. FiOS tv sucks, as I get random ass commercials during my programs

FIOS SUCKS!! They knocked on my door with an offer I could not refuse, but I should have!! They told me the internet was so fast over my top grade DSL, BUT IT WAS SLOWER!!! SCUMBAGS!! My DIRECT TV was AWESOME Picture and tons of Tennis channels... Verizon FIOS promised me I would get the Tennis channel and told me I would get the same I got from DIRECT TV... but they lied!! DIRECT TV gives you around 8 channels of tennis during Grandslams & verizon does not!! They gave me the Tennis channel for about a month before it got turned off and read they were trying to work a deal to get it back!! Then the Tennis channel totaly disapeared!! GONE!!! SCUMBAGS!!!!!!!! They eventualy got it back.. WTF!! I have HD TV service and the picture quality has dropped!! Also internet seems even slower!! SCUMBAGS!! I wish I had my DIRECT TV back and my DSL!!! I watch tennis at times and it is like a 1970's video game with the ball having pixelation as it moves side to side!! I feel the quality has been cut!! That $99.00 A MONTH DEAL LOOKED GOOD ON PAPER!! But you know what they say (YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!) or (YOU GET WHAT THEY GIVE YOU IS MORE LIKE IT!) I can't wait to go back to TRUE HD TV with DIRECT TV!! Verizon gave me phone, internet, and so called hd tv for $99.00 I guess if you need the home phone it is not that bad, but who needs a home phone anymore??? So I am better with DIRECT TV and the true HD tv!! The only reason I even thought of changing was that in a very bad storm my dish would loose reception for a bit, But the same thing happens with Verizon all the time.. EVEN WHEN THERE IS NO STORMS!! Verizon spent countless dollars running cable through my neighborhood just over a year ago.. They chewed up streets, lawns, tree...ETC... Now they are back running New or more cable through the same spots!! What a waist of time and money!! Not to mention they killed a tree on my property and 500+ houses lawns were torn up and were just starting to grow back!!! The team they sent the second time was mostly MEXICANS!! Just for the record I have nothing against Mexicans.. However I live in an area that to my best guess is approx.0.01% Mexican population!! The only way I knew they were mexican was that I went to ask them what they were digging up again and nobody spoke english!! Maybe the Americans that put it in the first time screwed it up and somebody said...Send the Mexicans!! ??? It is sad whatever the reason! I am an American and I think Americans are IDIOTS!! That is myself included!! We put up with CRAP!! Best of all we pay for it!! They tell us we need all this CRAP and we keep buying it!! They call me on the phone at night to tell me I am eligable for A new cell phone upgrade!!! Those SCUMBAGS make the call like they are doing me a favor LOCKING ME INTO ANOTHER 2YR. Incredible all because the tennis channel lol...^^^ i have had all the services the last 2 years directv and fios are tied for 1st the rest are horrible. you lose sat. in summer t-storms and downloading movies sucks but direct tv has more sports channels then fios

they finally fixed it. Oddly I got a call from a real person with the ability to solve a problem (all the layers in the middle and the bottom are structurally prevented from doing ANYTHING, they CANT solve problems), this person said she would call the tech supervisor herself from the exec office, she did and the next morning (although no body told me they were coming and I was not prepared) there was a real verizon guy, not a subcontractor. He was great and fixed it by replacing the box at the house, now it is lightning fast. But I must say I almost had a couple of strokes yelling at them, they make it very frustrating and nearly impossible to solve a simple problem, then I love the part where they have a follow up call to the bad service prior...could be easily fixed with the old system where you call a person, they answer the phone and solve a problem, probably cheaper too.

AUTO PAY BS!
Hi, It's me again! I forgot to tell you the story of Verizon and my cell phone bill! Many years ago I me and my wife had cell phones and then the kids got old enough for cell phones.... That is when I got a Family plan. I was paying like $45 a month each and Verizon offered a share family plan, so I went for it! This is when it first came out. The first month I got a bill for close to $1200.00 American dollars!! I almost died and called them to tell them something is wrong!!! So then they told me "JUST PAY THE BILL AND WE WILL WORK IT OUT!!" WTF!! Now I would have done that if the bill was maybe $20.00 over what the agreed amount was for the five cell phones, approximately.$125.00 a month total was what it was said it would be. Keep in mind I did nothing wrong! Verizon could not figure out why my bill was so high?? I did not go over on minutes & did not do anything to receive these extra charges! After hours of phone calls to Verizon and a ton of BS, they told me that the family plan was new and that the computers had a problem grouping the five cell phones on one family plan and that is why I was charged the $1200.00 bill.. Had I had auto pay I would be charged first and ask questions latter!! They had the BALLZ to tell me to pay the $1200 and work it out later!!! It got so bad I told them to put my lines back to separate lines because the problem happened again the next month and I could not go through this BS every month with Verizon... Keep in mind this was many years ago when family plan just came out, however I still till this day don't want to be on anybodies auto pay! eventually I did get the family plan and all worked out, but that was years latter!
The family plan is another genius invention!! I SAY GENIUS INVENTION!! Why you ask?? Well our children lean what we teach them, example, TV, cigarettes, Alcohol, Cell phones, Cursing, Spitting, Consumerism...ETC... I could go on forever!! Now think about how good a marketing tool the family plan is! Just imagine Cigarette or Alcohol companies thinking of way to increase sales in the future and they would come up with the eventual idea to get the product in the hands of future consumers as early and as young as possible! Well that is exactly what Verizon and all the other cell phone companies did!!! The best is the parents helped them by buying and paying for a technology drug from a young age and we have made it part of their life.... To the point they can not live without it and are hooked for LIFE!!! My kids at one time in high school age were sending some 3k to 5k texts each month!! THANK GOD FOR UNLIMITED TEXT AT THE TIME!! They even sleep (VERY LITTLE) because of social media and cell phones!! The best is they are in bed sleeping with the cell phone plugged into the wall so it never goes dead while they are up for God know what time and how long, most of the night, TEXTING & OTHER BS!! This is all honestly is a DRUG and the original pusher was the parents! But the main high quantity dealer was the cell companies!! Our kids never had a chance!!! Now they can't live without it for the rest of their lives! What started out as a great way to be in contact with your kids has turned into an addiction! That was not the original plan! The unlimited text was what I thought at the time a good deal, however that leads to even more texting and an even higher addiction!! Now it has got so bad the Government has banned Texting while driving, because they are so addicted to it they must text 24/7!! They text themselves into car accidents!! I cannot think of another addiction that the parents get their kids hooked on at an early age and that has all the same characteristics of any drug or alcohol addiction and we never seen it coming! I recently had to take a ride in a car for 1.5hrs. with my 18yr. old son and his girlfriend was still at college, while we drove a text came through every six or seven seconds!! It drove me crazy!! Keep in mind she was in class still while this went on and it is not the first time!! When I sit down to talk to any of my children it is a matter of moments before they get a text and this goes on 24/7 my one son even is smart enough to turn his phone off when he goes to sleep!! There is always some nutty friend or girlfriend up at 1-2-3am asking so are you up??? WTF!! I have personally crushed many of their cell phone over the years because whenever I call them or text, they don't respond! Because I am the father and the one paying the bill, that makes me the most important call they will ever get!! They don't see it that way until they loose that (DRUG) I mean cell phone I got them hooked on! I challenge anybody to try and DETOX or try to detoxify a person for any small amount of time lets say a week, without them going through withdraw! Their whole collapses! It might as well be the air they breath being cut off!! BLAME THE PARENTS & THE PUSHER/SUPPLIERS!! TV was bad enough and had a profound impact on our lives when it had an antenna and six channels!! One of the most important things not to many people remember was at midnight or was it 1:00 am the TV went off and you got that black circle and loud annoying siren like sound when all broadcasting stopped!! That was not enough for them... First came 24 hr. cable with the promise of no commercials and that was God sent, in theory! But that did not last long!! Now with 1000 channels and on demand, it is just insane!! They even found a way to make the commercials twice as loud as the show you were watching!! SCUMBAGS!! Let's not forget the famous infomercial, you can't make this stuff up!! If I told you in the 60's or 70's that someday you would be watching a show that is really a commercial for 30 to 60 minutes you would put me in a padded cell!! or that their would be channels that sell stuff 24/7 on TV and you would watch that in the middle of the night and buy things again you would put me in a padded cell!! The best is if I told you that you would be paying a premium for this sales commercial, you would have just thrown away the key to the padded cell you already put me in!! One of the most iconic sayings of the 70's is ( DROP A DIME ON SOMEBODY) I had a hard time when it got changed to drop a quarter... and now kids would not even know what that means?? My youngest son once asked me while we were watching an older movie what "drop a dime" meant? You can't drop anything anymore... you just turn to the nearest person on the planet and ask to borrow their cell phone! I guess it is better when used correctly, but it can and does get out of hand for most!! Even my wife who hated cell phones when they first came out and would even forget to bring or charge it is now communicating with our sons by texting!! That is the power of the cell!! I tell her to just call them and talk to them and hear their voice! If you got time to text you got time to talk!! I have family members on speed dial, simple #3 push and talk... it can't get easier than that!!! I cannot stand how impersonal a text is!! I have found that my children's communication skills are 99.9% nonexistent due to a life of text communication!! Bottom line is anything in moderation!! All these things are cool and fun and are great for certain things, however it can sneak in on you if your not watching carefully!! I remember in the 70's having dinner with my grandfather who was drinking bottled sparkling water and telling me that when he was a kid if somebody told himhe would be paying $1.00 a bottle for bottled water and that he would be buying it by the case he would told them that they are not only STUPID BUT ALSO RETARDED!!! The fact is that he lived through the depression and was lucky to have water coming out of the tap and for the most part water was close to free and you could get it almost everywhere!!! I must point out that a loaf of bread was $0.05 cents!!!! My fathers first house mortgage was $43.00 and that was a huge leap of faith for a person making $35.00 a week!! His second house was an even bigger leap at $73.00 a month... His thinking was it would be nice just to live there a couple years if things did not work out!! He wound up living there over 30yrs. however if he had a cell bill and cable he would not have made the first month. LOL..
My greatest enlightenment came from the fact that you can save lots of money shopping around on line for things to get the best price.... However that also has you buying things you would have never even known about or had the opportunity to be able to buy in the late hours of the night and holidays and basically 24/7 so all the savings on one item turns into a constant buying of things or stuff!! George Carlin did a comedy routine years ago about stuff, he had to buy a bigger house to put all his stuff in.. it was funny at the time but is so true even today.. we need so much room to keep our stuff in... we are slaves to our possessions!! The more stuff you have the more room you need to keep it in!! There is even a show called hoarders, people with to much stuff!!! Well I guess if you have a problem in this world having to much stuff is not the worst?? So we spend our lives in the pursuit of more stuff and more room to put our stuff until some day we figure out what am I going to do with all this stuff?? Sorry if I go on about this crap, TO MUCH COFFEE!! but this is years of frustration at work here!! This is my therapy... venting on this?? Blog or whatever?? I feel better just getting it out. That is not going to do much to change anything in the real world.. Again I am sorry for going on and on...... Verizon did not hold a gun to my head and make me buy into anything... it was free will, however I would like it to be easy and talk to a real person and not have to jump through 50 hoops to get anything done!! Verizon Fios fucking sucks ass. the internet is slow (despite paying for the "fastest" service), and the cable service frequently freezes and requires the box to be restarted. This shit sucks and I will be cancelling it to go back to Comcast. Fuck these daft cunts in hell.

I just got Comcast cable and I have the cheapest plan and it's just slightly slower than my parent's FIOS and it's only $50 a month. They have like 3 levels of speed above mine which must be faster than FIOS. Wish I had gotten this sooner.

It appears Verizon is stealing bandwith from it's own customers as well as mischiefing other internet service customers. Essentially, Verizon is spying. You should see the records that vermin is keeping on their customer base. The awful part is the Investigators have not been able to verify one single thing verizon "employees" have claimed in those records. Everyone's computer is running badly now due to that massive theft of bandwidth. We all pay out the nose for FIOS and nothing in our agreements says any of us have to donate any of our bandwidth to that FIOS scum and their illegal activities. They are stealing bandwidth.

I get over 80 Mbps download and over 60 Mbps upload using Fios. This is connecting via WIFI, not hardwired which is even faster. Have been Fios customer since 2006, over 2 different cities. In the last 9 years, I have had exactly 3 times when the internet was down and it was usually resolved within 30 mins max. Fios TV is fine as well, beats the shit out of DirecTv. You can spit across my old DirecTv dish and it would distort picture. Missed many critical sports plays with DirecTv cutting out during rain storms.
