License Plate in Front Window -- Legal?
Posted by: New Car ()
Date: March 07, 2012 01:54AM

Bought a car recently from out-of-state (registering in VA) and it doesn't have a spot on the front bumper for a license plate. Rather than drill one in the bumper, can I just put it in the front window? What's the specific law on this? Just needs to be displayed?

Yup, what the last post was all about. In VA, it best be in screwed in at the front, because in the window, is just not going to fly to some police officers. As for the % who will pull you over and nail you for it, I'm not sure, but best believe if its one of those stops where they are in front with a few fellahs working it, you will be assigned to the right shoulder for awhile regardless of the ticket outcome.

Last time I hit a deer I drove around Arlington and Falls Church for 3 weeks without getting a ticket.I stuck the plate in the map pocket.Body shop got every part except the front plate bracket.I visited relatives in WV for Thanksgiving.I gues I drove about 1k during that time.I wouldn't put the plate on the dash.If you get into an accident that plate is going to be flying around.Might cut your head off.

I'm surprised the relatives couldn't help.

Rather than screwing it into the bumper directly (stupid), you should just buy the proper front tag bracket from the dealership designed for the car.

regardless of where the car was sold, needing a front plate or not, the manufacturer has the appropriate parts for a front mount plate. driving around with VA plates on the rear and nothing on the front is asking for the cops to nail you for the smallest thing. ask me how i know this.

Thanks for all the help guys. I'll get a bracket and ugly up my car. I can't believe VA makes you use a front license plate. I'm sure they could save $ if they only made one plate, not two. It's completely useless.

Don't get me started on being the only state that doesn't allow radar detectors either........

I agree about the radar detector issue, but there certainly is a purpose for a front plate seeing as it makes it easier to ID your car from multiple angles.

As for keeping the plate in the window, aside from getting nailed over it, who wants to deal with the massive reflection caused by it?

So move. Go and live somewhere else. You're clearly not happy here with the overwhelming oppressiveness of the mighty Commonwealth of Virginia. How can you possibly continue to live in such horrible conditions, mang?

I was doing a video project last year and I didn't want the plate to be visible in the process, so I took it off, When we left 1 house, I put the plate on the dashboard and then we drove through East Orange in NJ, I passed a cop (insert "oh s***") surprisingly he didn't come after us since there was 4 people in the car with me. When I got to the second house, I put the plate back on the bumper ('whew")

I agree, you should move if your not happy here. However, before you do you might want to check your above statement for accuracy before moving to another state you won't be happy in either.

Answer: Yes, in Virginia you have to have the plate on the bumper.

Why?: Because if you keep it on your windshield and get into an accident, that plate flying back into the face of you or your passenger could serious hurt somebody.

How: Dealership will rip you off, but you really don't have much choice for a part like that. I believe a custom plastic plate holder with the brackets and screws will run you about $40-$45.

A lot of cars look better without a plate, but if you wanna live in Virginia, you gotta have one.

Why? Did you wanna' put your Confederate flag plate up there? Or your VA Tech one?

Speeding is illegal. People who use radar detectors like to speed. By making detectors illegal, our fine state is seeking to reduce the amount of speeding. That leaves you 49 other states where you can run your detector rig so, get the fuck out of here, mang...

Candy has no nutritional value (other than empty calories) and is fattening. Alcohol causes impaired judgment and driving and death. Cigarettes are bad for you.

Hell, why post speed limit signs at all? Clearly the competent driver will know what the correct speed is; if not, give him/her a ticket.

Are you getting why your post makes no sense yet? If not, then you're clearly too stupid to be here. Give the computer back to the nice person who lent it to you and go back to your room, sonny.

Oh I see, holmes...just because the OTHER 49 states allow radar detectors then VA should, too. Take your dick out of your ear before you hurt yourself...Christ...

Hey moron, who the fuck even mentioned the federal govt? Virginia does not possess some higher level of intelligence regarding state law. If 49 states see fit to allow them, then Virginia should as well.

EXACTLY -- You should just spray paint on the side of the car please pull me over and check me.

Another big "please pull me over in VA" are modified cars and tinted windows.

gerrymanderer2 (OP) posts several lies on ffu daily - many\.10think he's a fx co gov worker who is getting paid to do it for false DNC democrat "advertising". he floods ffu with useless posts to bump down major news, posts fecal matter, mutilated bodies, child porn, foreign drug ads and sneaker ads, tells people to kill themselves and government should seize them and put them on psych pills in prison - decided by democrat gov of course, promotes kangaroo courthouse trials, gives anti-religious rants, gives satanic ritual rants, posts black males with large dicks on white young females, portends white low birth rate and fall of USA, food tampering/poisoning, and anything possible to DEMORALIZE white people on ffu. (perhaps a chinese prisoner or isis member - but definitely knowledgeable of fx co gov from the inside at times). the website operator has told him "not to post or return" which are still posted - not removed, by the sysop: not because of a political leaning but for continual illegal and gross spam along with messages that are only to demoralize if not kill others. he/she plays at financial terrorism as well: continuall reporting false financial data, and fake emergency please from (fake members of the community he makes up)
